I bought the wrong domain by mistake. How can I undo this

You cannot edit the URK of a purchased domain name; you have to purchase a new one. Some registrars may give refunds within a very short period, but not all.

Starting with a siterubix subdomain may be better until you are happy with your niche and name, as you cannot edit the URL of a premium domain name once purchased. And if you happen to have made a mistake.

what's a urk

Hey Jeff,

Having noted that Diane has already explained... I just want to say this:

Been there... done that... and after doing THAT once, (touch wood!)... I haven't done it a second time.

So, hopefully you too will not repeat that mistake again, any time soon.

Hope that knowing you're not alone in THIS mistake will make you feel a bit better... but I do feel your pain.

I did this as well. I bought the one I wanted and made sure the old/wrong one will not be renewed next year.

Hi - unfortunately, that domain is now registered with you for a year, it can't be changed.

If you are not going to use it, do remember to turn off the auto-renew option in the Site Domains section so that you are not charged for it again next year.

the onus is on you to check, double and triple check before buying as this is added to a register - to prevent duplication...
so you have this domain for a year....you may be able to appeal to Kyle if you purchased through sitedomains...
but unless the name is completely wrong why not use it for a while and see if anyone notices or are even bothered...
your display name can be different to the url- but i would keep it close...

Should an informational post that has a category on your website be published in that category, or to the blog or both? I am a bit confused from an SEO standpoint will this ess

Hey Jeff,

Informational posts is what Kyle teaches us to publish on our website. Once your site is established, then sprinkle affiliate links in SOME posts, so not to sound "salesy".

So, to answer your question, yes... an informational post that has a category on your website should be published in that category.

The point of having a blog is to HELP those who are looking to solve issues within the niche you have chosen.

Pages are for static information, like:
privacy policy
disclaimer
about
testimonies
products / services

Hope you find this helpful.

I would have thought that everything relevant to your website and niche should be available in your site.

I would write the post and add to the blogroll

What plugin do you use to backup your websites. I have tried updraft plus, and backwpup and both come back with errors. Any other suggestions or advice would be greatly appreci

Hey Jeff,

The plugin I use is detailed here: and I use it backup and move any site, especially sites that are large.

However, Marion informed me recently that the plugin detailed here: finally got updated by the developer and is once again, safe to use... but only on smaller sites.

Others use the following: Hope you find this helpful.

You can do it manually
Dashboard /tool/export/export all/save to ard drive
This backs up your data base and all your content
