"Forever on my mind"-I wish!

Some might remember that song by Willie Nelson(?). I wish I could say that about my mind. It seems that the further along in "Boot Camp" training I get, The more I've already forgotten from the previous training. I go back and do it again, and try to "keep up to speed". I've even resorted to drinking a couple cups of coffee every morning, to "wake up". I haven't had coffee for quite a few years! It frustrates me because I want to learn!

Some 30 yrs ago, I could retain everything! I was training to become an insurance agent in Conn. When I took the 125 multiple answer test, I got a perfect score! It had NEVER been done before in the state of Conn. The Licensing Board withheld my results to view video surveillance to make sure that I hadn't cheated! You can sense my frustration at not having the retention I once had.

Growing older certainly can be a b....ch I guess.

Go at your own pace that you can absorb. Give breaks in between and do not over-strain. Change topics in between. that will help your brain to absorb more. And yes, if possible do some meditation. My best wishes.

Getting older does not help; my own experience. Jovo

Thanks Jovo.
I guess I've been feeling a little "taxed" at trying to absorb everything at once.

Absolutely so. I went through Certification courses a few times, believe it or not. Total beginner, new terminology, new environment, new phrases (English is not my native) and so on. Do not even think of absorbing all at once, you will only get frustrated, and you must avoid this. This is a process, learning, so one small step after another. Jovo

Use it or lose!
If you constantly stimulate your brain and do something you hardly ever lose any brain capacity.
But if you feel like you don't have the brain capacity that you used to have it simply means that you need to get used to learning completely new things again.
And the good news is: Once you do that, you will feel much better at retaining things and all that stuff.
And apart from that: Growing older is a place of experience, having had many adventures and having lived a lot. Why should that be a bitch? Just my two Cents :)

Thanks for the comment. I guess that I'm NOT used to learning new things again yet. I try to stimulate my mind daily just doing simple things like crosswords, etc. It's been awhile, though, since I've had a lot to learn all at once. Maybe I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed at times. Imagine that! lol
Good luck to you Sebastian!
