Hey guys,

I have a very well ranked post of mine and in fact this one post drives around 20% of the traffic to my website.

I made quite some changes to it to furth

Looks like Boomer has your answer. Good luck Sebastian

I would re-index it by doing Fetch as Google and Submit to Index. Re-indexing your content will not effect your ranking negatively. Only the changes you make to it can effect it.

Thank you for the answer!
Well yes, if you change a lot about that post it might be slightly risky, I guess.
But then again, if you don't manually submit it it will get indexed anyway within a few days. So, I guess that I would just better index it manually, anway to see the impact directly :)

You can do it which ever way you want. I personally manually index all of my content whenever I create new content, I make an update to existing content, and/or when it receives a lot of great comments. I would rather get my content indexed within hour instead of days.

But either way you choose to do it, the content will get re-indexed. Yes, doing it manually will bring about any changes quicker, if anything should happen good or bad.

As recommended by Jay for SEO best practices I am using a meta title and meta description for every post I make.

However, sometimes I see Google displaying the meta titl

Hi Sebastian. I think it may depend on the actual search term used by the visitor. It may be other text on your page is more relevant to the search query so Google will use that instead.

Yeah, that's absolutely true. Google knows best in which situations your meta description is better than the text in your post!
Google truly is almighty :)

Only happens for me when I go back and change the description of posts that are already published. It hasn't happened on any of my newer posts.

Yeah, that's true! It only happens to posts that are already published and where I decided to change the meta title or meta description.
But that is still strange. I mean if you manually resubmit the post for Google to crawl it again, the new meta title and meta description should be shown nonetheless, I guess?

LOL, you would think so, but this is Google we're talking about here.

Hi guys,

I need to change the category of many posts that I have written and I was just wondering whether this could have any Impact on SEO?

Is it possible to change

most of us go back and tweek and change things like categories once we learn the way to categorize them, it's part of the learning process, I don't see how it can hurt anything

No

Robert has you covered.

Thanks for the question - I never even thought of that!

Though I wouldn't change them often, changing it will not effect SEO.

I believe categories are exclusive to your site. Keywords on the other hand, would have a huge impact. I don't think changing a post's category will affect SEO.

Okay, thank you for all the answers guys!
It's good to know that I can change categories without having to fear any negative SEO effects!
Of course I don't want to change categories often but every once in a while it has to be done when you come up with a better idea of how to go about building your site :)

In my comment section I received the following question by someone who did not give away her blog:

"Do yоu mind if I quote a couple օf үour posts аs long as I provide cred

Sounds like a good chance to get more traffic linked back to your site if done right and increasing traffic to your site

if both parties are agreeable and it is a two way street then it is worth trying out

I think that sounds as If it could be beneficial to the both of you.

That is exactly how I would do it if I wanted to feature someones work. I would ask permission and propose an exchange of guest posts. This way, whatever dedicated following they have will possibly go to my site and possibly sign-up for email subscription and become a dedicated follower or sale for me. And vice versa for them. I would see whether this person's site is the same as yours or one that would compliment it. Example: I have a cake decorating site so I will try to connect with sites that deal with baking cakes and share their recipes. In turn, maybe they will share my decorating on their sites. I think it is a win-win honestly.

Good Luck :-)

I'd want to take a look at the blog first.

I may be tempted if it was me, to say perhaps we could each do a guest blog. Please let me have the URL of your site so I can have a look at it

Yeah, that's cool. I have never done a guest post! :)
Thanks Catherine!

Just make sure that they do not steal your content. It's always great to be sure of this. You definitely do not want any intellectual property stolen, so make sure your material is completely copyrighted, if not here's something that might help: Learn Copywriting - Free Udemy Course Anyways, you definitely have the ability to grant them permission to reference your material, but not use it for their very own benefit. Just keep a check on the people who do it. Hope this helps :)

Thanks Floridalma!
I will checkout your course!
And of course, I will make sure that my page is really referenced!

Not my course xD, just another fellow WA members' who was kind enough to share this info with us. Thanks for listening though :)

Technically, as long as she quotes very small aspects of your website and gives you credit, she doesn't really need your permission. It falls under fair use. The fact that she even asked would make me a bit more comfortable about the whole situation.

If you could get the URL of her blog that would be even better just so you can confirm that it is similar to your website. You could say that you want to share her post on your social networks and that is why you want the web address.

Best Regards,
Jim

I did not look at it from this perspective!
And I love your idea! I will do it exactly like that. I will ask for her blog so that I can share her post on my social networks!
Thanks so much, Jim!

Hi guys,

I am using my G+ account by posting my content and getting as many people to follow me as possible. I think that there is consensus that this is a good way go us

it is best to have one account for both as they link up to you and your sites

I do not follow my g= account and do not use you tube.
Ken

No do not have separated accounts, showing that your a real person and checking posting about cool things you looked out and making people see that they might have the same interests of you can make you more likable as a person. Putting out other things shows that it's not just about marketing with you. Which people will become immune to you over time, if you always saying to them " check this out"

But if you are putting person life in there I would suggest have 2 accounts.

I have separate accounts.

Great question and good discussion Sebastian, thanks for asking.

Thanks for your answers, Scot and Manchini!
You're right. I will seperate my accounts, too!
Because indeed: once my website is going well, I will certainly want to start another website!

my pleasure:)

Hi Sebastian. I am certainly in favour of separating work from private life. I have several gmail accounts for instance for different purposes. I would do that with all account, face book, youtube, twitter etc. After all you may want to go into completely different niches later on so mixing them up would cause great confusion.

very good question, I have separate accounts for it, but I don't know whether it will do harm to your web traffic boosting, but I think on contrary it might attract those people who are not interested in ur niche but like the videos you comment on:)
