3 Things to Remember When Facing Challenges

If you’ve been living long, then you know that every day brings with it its own challenges.

Setting goals gives us the expectation of eventual success. With a destination in mind, we think about how we will address the challenges we encounter, starting with laying out the steps to help us reach that destination. At first glance, we may not consider the fact that there will be lots of lessons along the way. This is a good thing. Just know that what we learn along the way, while having the right mindset, impacts the outcome, which should dictate a positive one if we have laid those steps correctly.

When we focus on having a positive mindset, we can more easily think about how we will embrace our personal journeys, regardless of the challenges. If we approach our path (with the steps we laid out), with the expectation of having achieved something solid, because we made the right choices or were willing to correct our mistakes and misperceptions along the way, we will see the most genuine success.

Life Will Fail to Warn Us

This is something you already know. Many of us have already had our fair share of obstacles, challenges, and outright last-minute disasters. Like a vacation which was spoiled because you or someone else got sick? What about when family members or out-of-town guests just showed up at the worst possible time? The problem with setting goals is that you are often not prepared when the unexpected happens. Yet, we cannot live without setting goals, or we’d get nowhere.

There is something to be said about living in the moment, when regardless of the obstacles and challenges we are facing, we can embrace the goodness of life. Don’t forget either, that you can always set new goals. Be precise and identify the gaps in the original goals. If at first, you failed, just try again!

We Can Experience Lost Opportunities

We have experienced lost opportunities and relationships that seemed promising but failed. Being focused on the future is plausible, but if you are fixated on the future and not the present, you aren't in the moment. When you discover a new opportunity and recognize it as being so, don’t hesitate. This is living in the moment. Forget about past failures and move forward confidently. Our mistakes and failures do not bind us.

We Need to Identify What’s Worthwhile

Most of us think it’s friends, family, contributing to the community or some charitable cause, or being good at our jobs. When evaluating your goals, don’t fixate on outcomes, enjoy the journey of learning, living, and loving. Of course, we want to achieve our goals, but we want to be mindful, during the process and the journey. Savor and appreciate the people around you, discover new adventures. What is worthwhile is your happiness.

Looking at these critical truths, please note it's important not to lose yourself in the goal. The journey has so much more to offer.

Well said Glenna and one part that is vital which you mentioned toward the end.
"Do not lose yourself in the goal. The journey has so much more to offer"
That can be more than many of us may realize at the time.

Great work
