We were wondering what percentage of a page should or should not have colors or Images. We do understand that it varies widely from page to page and website to the next but is
It is my understanding that if you use pictures on your site that they be relevant to what you are writing about. as they say "A picture is worth a thousand words"
Your text should be easy to read and the same don't mix up different text styles from one paragraph to the other, unless you are trying to make a statement or quote someone or something.
If you choose to use color in backgrounds or titles, try not to make them detract from your work but to enhance it.
I personally chose to use a different color to enhance my links and I use bold text to emphasize a point or phrase.
Anyway this is what I understand that should be done on a site or blog.
I would suggest that you both look at websites to see what works an how others organize and use color on their sites.
Have a great week guys take care. Mike
Thank you mike,
I guess we have to unlearn a lot of crap that we have received from other companies (failed at all of them) and just slow down and relearn the right way here at WA

For your font I cannot recommend other color to used. It's better black or gray. If you put some photos for your articles that will be nice.
Thanks Eric,
we value every ones opinions here at least they are consistent!

Are colors a good thing to use on your website?

I am not aware of any standard percentage for colors and images as it is personal choice between you and your reader.
I would say that choice of color for your main elements like headers, logos and menu bars should be considered carefully and reflect your subject and audience.
As an example there is a reason that websites for funeral homes are not bright red and why site for childrens toys often are.
Color should be used to highlight elements to point your visitors in the right direction. Pictures within posts should complement the article or as in the case of infographics replace a lot of it.
When using color the white spaces between elements are really important they make those color bits pop out.
One site that I think makes excellent use of color is.........
Wealthy Affiliate
It looks very clean and crisp, colors are used just enough and there is plenty of white space to get those color elements noticed.
Any site design these days you also need to consider how it will look compressed onto a 4" or 5" mobile screen.
Wealthy Affiliate passes that test too.
