How to leverage other's viral content?
Hi all... I recently have seen two posts from my Google+ alerts that are relevant to my website. I know that I can 'like' and share the content but my questions are:

If it is a video on Youtube that is going viral, you could embed it on your site and then share it through social mediums. This will likely only gain any level of traction if you have a decent social following though.
As for leveraging hot topics, you can create content targeting the keywords of the given hot topics. This can lead to the indexing of your content and if you get ranked under these popular and current events, you will get traffic.
But as with any content it must be unique and you must offer valuable, thorough and engaging content.
The only drawback of targeting viral events is that the lead to sporadic traffic, not long term traffic as they tend to blast off then fizzle relatively quickly.
What if they are articles and not youtube videos? just share or like, and kind of just 'feed' relevant articles to readers? I guess I wanted to know whether there was a way to share, eg. on FB, that will bring more traffic (instead of just getting the original article creators the page hits).
