Outbound Verses Inbound marketing
Recently I have been doing a bit of catch up study to make ensure that I am 'in the game' as far as my business development / marketing / sales management skills are concerned.
Whilst going over some notes I have realised just how incredibly lucky we, those of us involved in WA, really are.
The days of outbound sales / marketing techniques are moving on.
Outbound marketing is the traditional form of marketing where we go out to hunting for the customers - we push our marketing onto them through TV, newspaper and junk mail. Also known as interruptive marketing, where cold calling and 'in your face' sales tactics was the way to grab a customer.
Not always the nicest experience for the customer.
But affiliate marketing uses the principles of the Inbound marketing methodology.
This is the direction that modern business sales and marketing strategies are heading.
Inbound marketing is the less intrusive method where we create content that our customers can use, articles they can read and get information as they need it, and videos that help instruct and explain. It focuses on the customer and not on the company selling the product.
As affiliate marketers, we are at the forefront of the new paradigm in marketing and sales. Traditional marketing is now catching up with the internet and we are on the right track to ride the train of success.
If you ever hear stories that affiliate marketing is 'old hat', well this cannot be further from the truth.
Good for us, eh!
