Adding Adsense ads to your Post
Adding Google Adsense ads to your Post
Hello Wonderful People
I hope this will help someone. I finished doing this less than an hour ago. More than one persons answered my question on Adsense and DriveNow provided some instructions to help get me started with adding the Ads (thanks for your responses they helped).
I struggled a lot with this part of the training because I did not see any video showing how it should be done. This is what worked for me. I hope that I can help someone else to do it quicker and not struggled as I did.
If you know of an easier way to do this, please share it. Thank you taking the time to read this.
When you get the Approval email from Adsense, stating that “Your site is now ready to serve AdSense ads.”
- Scroll down to the bottom of the email and click on “Get started” to go to your AdSense account:
- Click on: BY AD UNIT
- You will see three options to Create new ad unit: Display ads; In-feed ads and In-article ads.
- Click on Display ads (the Recommended option)
- Enter a name for your ad, in the top left corner of the page (Name your ad unit)
- After you enter a name for your ad, click “CREATE” at the bottom right of page
- Follow the instruction on the page to Copy and paste the ad unit code
- GO TO your WordPress dashboard:
- Choose an empty Block (1, 2, 3 etc) and paste your ad code
- Scroll down on the screen: Click on Manual, check box for “Post”
- At “Insertion,” click on box next to ‘Insertion,” and choose where you want your ad to appear on your Post. (for example, Before paragraph 1) (enter the number in the next box)
- Click on the Save Settings 1 – 16 tab
- Check the Widget (not sure if this is necessary but I checked it, I followed a video)
- Check Shortcode (not sure if this is necessary but I checked it, I followed a video)
- Remember to: Click on the Save Settings 1 – 16 tab
- Go back to your Post, refresh the page and you should see the ad.
- If you do not see the ad after refreshing, close the screen and open a new one.
To add another ad, go through the steps again.
If you have not yet added the “Ad Inserter”, you can follow Marion Black’s video (thanks Marion), it will help you.
It helped me to add the “Ad Inserter” Plugin and others things, but I was unable to insert the ads with the instructions given, because it appears that WordPress was updated after she did the video. Here is the Link: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/adsense-ads-with-ad-inserter-plugin
Here is the link to my website, feel free to check the ads placement. https://azyreadingjourney.com
The first one is Before Paragraph 1 (at top of Post) and the next one is After paragraph 7.
If you get stuck let me know and I will help you.
Thanks again for taking the time to read this. I hope it was helpful.
Blessings
Jackie

Jackie, Thanks for the step by step guide. Do you need to add the code for each post and page or just the once for you whole website?
Thanks
Karen
When you are using AdInserter, you can customize. You can check a box to have it on your homepage, pages or posts only, or you can have them on all of them.
Or you can check a box and have it in a widget that you can put in your sidebar(s). Then you can choose to have that widget in your homepage sidebar, pages sidebar or posts sidebar or all of the above.
Depending on your theme you could also have a widget in your header or footer area.
I've been experimenting with AdInserter for a while to see where I can do what. But I don't use AdSense ads, I only use my affiliate merchants banners and ads.
Right now the ads on my pages are different from the ads on my posts. And there are different ads in my sidebars too.
Now I just need to find a balance between text and ads :-)
Thank you BvVugt, it sounds like you are an expert on this, that's nice. I would like to learn more about AdInserter.
I was told that the theme that I am using does not have a Footer plugin, so I don't know what I can do and cannot do to customize my website yet.
I was wondering why the ads were on all of my Post. I have Post checked. Are you saying that if I unchecked Post and check Home page, I can add the ads to the Posts that I want them on.
It would nice if you could look at my website to see what I missed.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Great question Karen, I check Post in AdInserter, and the ads are on all my Post, but I do not want it like that.
BvVugt seems to be an expert in this area, and I saw that she answered your question, so you should be ok now.
Thanks BvVugt

Sure, I'd love to have a look at your website. Send me your url in a private message and I'll gladly see what I can do for you.
I wouldn't consider myself an expert, just someone who's one step further than you are ;-)
If you have 'post' checked, it puts the ad in all your posts. If you check 'homepage' it will put the ad on your homepage.
If you don't want an ad to be on all posts, or all pages, you can choose the option 'manual' --> 'shortcode'. It generates a shortcode for your ad, like [adinserter block="10"] or [adinserter name="Block 10"]. You can put that 1 line of code into your post/page and the ad will be exactly in the 1 place you want it.
You can read more about it in the AdInserter instructions: https://adinserter.pro/documentation/manual-insertion
Jackie, Yes thank you for that. I have followed through and it is all sorted now thanks to site support.
Things flow so easily here on WA with all the help.

Thanks BvVugt
Thanks for offering to check my website. I will PM you the link.
Ok, if you don’t feel like you are and expert yet, you will be soon. 👍👍
In the AdInserter area, I unchecked the post and checked Homepage, Search pages and Category pages, and there were no ads on the Posts.
The theme that I am using does not really have a Homepage. I tried using the shortcode, but after I applied it, there were no ads.
Thank you for the instructions, I will try it.
All the best

Thank you. Sorry for the delay, I got distracted. I think I have got ti sorted now, I just went for the auto method. for now, and will experiment further down the track. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Karen
Haha, thanks. AdInserter Expert doesn't sound all that bad ;-)
Sorry to hear your didn't get the ad on your website. After adding the shortcode (in code editor mode), remember to update your post.
I noticed you don't see the ad in visual mode, but after publishing it, you see it on your website.
You can re-adjust (left, right, center) through AdInserter.
Thanks for your link. I'm off to work now, but either tonight or tomorrow I'll take time to look at your website.
Thanks BvVugt
Not sure what is going on, I did what I saw in a video, the "adinserter block=”1″" is showing on the Post, but no ads.
Alignment is showing "Left" in Adinserter.
Thanks again.
