What's up, guys? I decided to write this quick guide on choosing your niche and direction to help those of you who are not sure which way to go with your new business.

The good news is, there's only one way to go! Onward to success!

When I was starting out, I had a massive dilemma about my niche, as well as about how I want to act within my niche. Luckily, I've picked up a few PRO advice that I'm going to share with this blog post.

So let's quit this jibber-jabber, and dive in straight to the business, shall we?

What is a Niche?

A niche market is a subset of the market on which a specific product is focused.

If this definition sounds a little boring, read these examples so you can have a picture to play with.

Health and fitness is the general market.

Weight-loss supplements is a product that is focused on a specific niche within the market.

Here's another one.

Kitchen appliances is a general market.

Microwave ovens is a product that is focused on a specific niche within the market.

Three is the magic number so let's give one last example.

Basketball equipment is a general market.

Basketball hoops is a product that is focused on a specific niche within the market.

Get it now?

You see, the key to quick success is to narrow your niche down to a specific market so that you can see the results faster!

The narrower your niche is the less competition. And if there's less competition, you could succeed faster.

What's Your Niche...I Mean, Hobby?

The cool thing about blogging and affiliate marketing is that you don't need to be an expert at something.

If I remember correctly, Kyle said, you don't need to be an expert, but you can become one.

That's what I want to suggest, as well.

Let your niche be something that you're either already knowledgable about or something that you would like to study and become an expert.

Either way, you can't go wrong.

So my question to you is, what's your hobby?

What do you like to do or would like to do?

Is it riding bikes? Is it exercising and dieting? Or maybe it's training dogs?

Can you see yourself writing 100's of posts about your niche?

Sooo...have you got any ideas already?

Whatever it is, it could be your niche.

Now, to become an expert, as far as I know, there are three ways to go.

The following are also tips that I got from seasoned affiliates that I want to pass on to you.

Become a Reviewer

Every niche out there has tons and tons of products that are waiting for you to review them.

A cool thing is, people are always searching for reviews. You could become an expert reviewer who knows everything about the products within your niche.

In other words, reviewing products could be your direction.

The best thing?

The best thing about being a reviewer is that your visitors are going to be people who already decided that they want to spend their money.

All they want to know whether or not they are making the right choice.

Another cool thing is, you don't even have to buy those products. All you have to do is review them.

You, as a product reviewer, share your opinion, experience, and knowledge about those products to help your visitors.

Then, you slip in your affiliate link, and make a commission for your service rendered!

Become a 'Go-To' Person

This is another cool way to chose a direction once you know what your niche is.

So if you like to share advice, solve problems, and do other things that most of us hate to do, you can help others by sharing your expertise.

A cool thing about becoming a Go-To person is, you don't need to know a lot about your niche. If you like to study, you can learn a lot about your niche while blogging about it.

The best thing?

The best thing about being a Go-To person is that your visitors are looking for a solution to their problems.

And do you know what? People love products or services that fix those problems.

You as a Go-To person simply help your audience to get answers by sharing everything you know about your niche.

Then, you slip in your affiliate link, and make a commission for your service rendered!

Become a Bit Of Both

This one is self-explanatory, if you can't decide which way to go, you can try mixing them both. There are no rules. The choice is yours!

You can run a blog within your niche where you have some posts that solve problems, and you can write product reviews as well.

Either way, you can't go wrong!

And that's it, guys.

I hope this short blog post has helped you to choose your niche as well as your direction on your Wealthy Affiliate journey.

The same advice saved my butt. :)

I wish you much success!

All the best,

Ivan :)

Hi Ivan, thank you for your inspiring article, and the highlights, Reviewer, Go To Person and, A Bit of Both. Bit Of Both would keep it fresh for me!

Then on the 3000+ Niche Ideas list from Ilias,
I found one that I'm interested in very much, so this was a confirmation that it "does exist", and found another in my head, that was not on the list. Of course, lists are available to jog your mind
Thank you for both!
Suzay

No problem :)

Thank you Ivan for the article, it really helped. I was a bit unsure of my direction given that I love to share solutions and was wondering if theres space like that for me but woohoo, there is!!! I'm now rethinking of doing my About me page, it definitely needs a tweak after going through your article. Thank you!

You're welcome, Monica :) I'm glad this post was helpful. Best of luck with your own website!

Thanx Ivan, l read through your blog and its really interesting and l believe it will be a great help to me. i am new here, today is my day 2 and l don't have a niche though l love dogs and had some while l was in Nigeria. i am from Nigeria, so if l want to choose a niche and to have something pertaining to my hubby which is dog pet, how can l go about it pls.

You're welcome, Toju. I'm glad this post was helpful.

Dogs is a great niche and if you're passionate about it and can see yourself working on it for an extended period, then you could become very successful at it.

However, dogs is a general market and a broad one. So my advice is to narrow it down to a specific subset of the market, a single tropic and start with that.

In the post below, Kyle has given an awesome example of how to narrow a broad niche like golfing to a specific product. I hope this helps!

Thanx Ivan I am still brain storming though about my niche. I see now that Dog is really a broad market, I could limit it to dog training tools or dog train methods or techniques. Another niche on my mind is Baby strollers. you no.

All those niches are great ideas. Just keep in mind that advice that I gave you earlier, do some research in Jaaxy as shown with Kyle's post and it's going to be much easier to make a decision. :)

How do I become a reviewer and a go to person

My hobbies are reading, diet for good health, spiritual tools for healthy and complete living. Let see how can I proceed from here.

Dully noted, I've sent you a private message to discuss your niche some more.

Thanks Ivan :) I joined yesterday and am busy exploring the site and following the initial training. Whilst I haven't picked a niche yet - your advice has really helped me understand how one small niche can make me money. I've read a few of your posts - they're definitely going to be one of my 'go to' places to find answers.

Hi Kay, you're welcome :) And welcome to Wealthy Affiliate! Congratulations! Thanks for letting me know that. I hope my experience could benefit yours, and I'll do my best to share more :)

Ivan
