Rank and Profile comments not connected... Darn...
Just thought I'd share the results from a short test that I ran just to see how Rank#'s work....
I pondered if following and profile comments would have any effect on my ranking last week. So I spent 3 days replying on profiles thanking the followers that followed me. The first day I read thru each profile and placed a unique comment thanking them for their following and encouraging them in the process. I also Followed their followers that show on their profile. The second day I did the same. Then the third day I just posted a general "thank you" note. I spent all my WA time doing this only and not answering questions.
When I started I had a 646 ranking...
And well, today now I have a 645 ranking...
Shucks... I guess no reward for "good-will"... sigh...
That's OK. I'll still continue to thank people...

So two days more and my rank is now 577. So possibly a delayed effect. That or this blog was worth 70ish points or so.
As I stated earlier, I did this test out of curiosity. I still work the same on WA...

Help in discussions, follow, blogs…if you have time. Don't stress about ranking, you will get there sooner or later.

yes i have been answering n also thanks my followup but my rankings keep going up instead of improving, felt dissappinted as spent much time on this but intend to spread my url instead to get sign up so that hopefully can achieve my goal,
I would also have to ask what did the 645 above you do for the last three days. If the activities were similar then there you go :) I know it is far fetched to think they all did the same, but maybe some of them did and some below you did more. Just keep paying it forward.
Interesting little experiment ~ I like ppl who tinker & strive to answer the 'why's'.
Though this is an endless black hole Mike. Confusing algorithms coupled with the inability for algorithms to weigh intent are a few issues with the system my friend... I think you will need the code to help with this one ~ & from what I understand, there is alot of coding to these algorithmic equations ~ best off forgetting about this ranking distraction all together.
I did actually do a post recently on how to improve your ranking - it may help with your experiment. d
politeness matters, creator, helper and activity are the parameters..with scores for each.
I have to say that the movement up or down correlates with my subjective experience and impressions. Andy
