Level 4 Complete
Okay, so I guess that I was mistaken. I said that I wouldn't post anything for a few weeks until I was finished moving. I decided to go ahead and finish with Level 4 (Mastering Social Engagement) while I had a little bit of free time.
Personally, I have had a Facebook profile/page since 2007, and I have a significant amount of friends, but I created a separate FB profile/page for my website because I don't like to "mix" my personal life with my website, etc. I don't want my friends to feel some sort of "obligation" to read my website and posts if they're not interested in it. I don't think that there is a right or wrong way to use FB per se, but this is the way that I'm doing it.
I had never used Pinterest or Twitter before, so I had to create accounts for these, which wasn't really difficult at all. I have a bit of a difficult time with Pinterest because it seems like just an unorganized explosion of pictures, and I sometimes get "lost" in my own account, but I am still able to manage for the most part.
I guess that since I'm mostly an introverted type of person and not very social to begin with, I am hesitant to "rely" on any type of social media for engagement in personal or business use, but maybe I'll get more "fluent" in using it in the future.
Alas, I don't have much time left, but I thought that I'd write a quick note about it. This was the lesson that took me the most time to get through, but I'm finally done.

Congratulations Ian,
There was a lot the learn in Level 4, well done. I don't worry about my friends feeling obligated to read my website and post. It is their choice, and maybe some them will never look at it.
I need to find the time, to interact and do more in the groups that has accepted me.
All the best with Level 5
Blessings
Jackie
Thanks!
There was a lot, and then there wasn't really that much.
I felt that the general idea was to try to engage people using social media. I think that most of the people with whom I interact via social media are people I know in "real life". LOL. Very few of them are people I don't know.
That being said, maybe I'll be able to find a way to use it to my advantage.

I know...I'm kind of curious to see what kind of things are in the next series, but I'll have to wait until I get things more or less settled.
Thanks!
Ian
Thanks. I feel like as long as I'm trying, then I'm doing something, which is better than not doing anything.

Great job social media sucks but it is what everyone in the world is doing now. Just concentrate on your site first and foremost and you can learn social media later on.

Thanks,
I'm not really worried about learning about social media per se, I just kind of find it a tad annoying. I mean, annoying when people seem to impose things upon people via social media.
I agree that it has pretty much revolutionized communication from the way I grew up, and it's pretty different from the early 2000s as well. I think it has its place, but I'm still kind of lukewarm about it.
I always concentrate on what I put on my site, as I'm kind of an OCD perfectionist. I try to think about it as something in which I may actually have an interest.
LOL. My middle name is Douglas.

I love to read some of the stuff on social media but I don't think it will take my business to the moon. The great middle name also

Congrats, Ian. Great start to the new year.
Thanks!
I am sure hoping that this year is better than the last, and that this decade is as well. Maybe I'm a bit nostalgic, but I really liked the 80s and 90s. Doesn't really seem as long ago as it was to me sometimes.
Ian
Yes, Ian. We all have years where we liked and feel most connected with. I believe many have good memories of the 80's and 90's.
For sure! I finished high school in 1995; I'm glad those years are behind me, but I do occasionally miss parts of them.
