Hi everyone!

I know I promised you yesterday You would get my 8 month progress report today.

Instead....I am going to adress a neverending topic here at WA and on other online platforms.

This can be especially helpful for newbies, but also for other members here.

Tomorrow you will get my report.

Let us talk about Comments my friend!

Since I started at WA I have learned a lot about comments and I have been blessed to be a certified commenter with 100% Approval.

Read my blogpost First time - I am a Certified commentor. There you will find something about WA best practices on the matter too.

I am not saying I am an expert in writing comments. Not at all, but when I give a comment on website comments I try to do my best to keep it relevant and focused. I can always do better on WA blogs and social media too.

Lately I have recieved very many Low quality comments with a lot of grammar errors and other issues. I have had to make the difficult choice to edit or disapprove. In some cases I have edited a lot of comments and if I see the same persons repeatedly giving low quality comments I disapprove.

Sometimes I pay for comments too and it is especially frustrating getting back only low quality comments.

I am sure there are many of you who can relate to this and have stopped using Site comments for that reason. I know several here are buyng comments from exterior sources who specializes in giving quality comments.

And that is what will happen if we do not grab ourselves in the neck and do a better job while commenting. Do you want Website comments feature to disappear and have to use external sources or do you want to help improve Site comments here at WA?

Why are comments so important - Do you know?

A high quality comment have a much higher value for the reader and will generate more traffic to your piece of content whether it is on your website or social media.

With good comments you will get more visitors and higher ranking.

Yes! - It affects your ranking my friend.

And that is why I wanted to adress this so we can all improve in writing comments.

Ithink the website comments is a valuable WA feature and I want to say to my referrals and be able to write in my reviews and posts that WA have the most amazing comment service online.

Dont you?

As per now - this is not the case. So let us do something about that together.

What is a low quality comment - Do you know?

A low quality comment in my eyes is a comment that:

1. Does not provide any value to the reader

2. Have no relevance to the article, post or review, video, picture

3. Does not provide a connection in anyway with the article

4. Could work for any product = generic

5. A lot of fill in words like "thank you for this here....

6. Not specific: Using language like:

1. it is a good thing to come across this online here .....

2. Hello there, thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful piece of information here with us or

This is definitely a good one to see here for us and I can only say that I value all you have reviewed here ....to give you an example

7. Long sentences with a lot of fill in words withouth meaning or value.

8. Not adressing anything in the article, post, videos etc.

9.Wrong name on products: Ex: Talking about Jaaxy when it is a Semrush Review

10. Show little understanding and seems like they have not read the article.

11.Giving feedback on the layout and website and suggest improvements

12. Adding links to their own sites and promoting their own business

As you see the list is long.

Did I forget something here? Anything you want to add to the list? Give a comment below.

What is a high quality comment?

A high quality comment give some value to the writer and especially the reader, watcher, listener etc.

Just think about it when you read comments on something you are interested in. You are looking to find out about others opinions, experiences, questions, pros and cons or learn something new about the product or topic Am I right?

1. It is specific

2. The commenter identify their problem and how the article, Review, video, podcast etc will help them.

3. The comment shows the commenter have read and understand what the article is about

4. No use of fill in words. Words like us is replaced with I, me. That one is replaced with the product name or feature. Words like this here is replaced with the product name, feature etc. you are talking about. Not thank you 3-4 times.

5. It is more than 3- 4 sentences.

6. Contain relevant disagreements, discussion or ask questions.

7. Focused on the topic. Adress pros and cons.

8. Share valuable experience

9. Correct grammar and rich in high quality keywords

10. Your thoughts on the matter and how you will use this information.

11. Will you try this or not. Reasons why /why not.

12. Shows you have read the whole article and not just skimmed it.

13. Add some new perspectives on the topic.

Did I forget something Essential? Something you want to add to this list? Leave a comment below.

Let us focus on giving Quality comments!

I know it is not always easy to give a quality comment with all types of content.

But if you give a comment to someone on their website, WA blog or channel somewhere do your best to give a good comment.

It is actually better not to give a comment especially in website comments if you do not know what to write.

The WA website comments can be an amazing tool if everyone could strive to give more Quality comments. You could actually make a huge difference for someone.

My advice: Disapprove comments of low quality to improve this service WA offers us.

I hope this blogpost served you well . Hope to hear your views on this matter below.

Hey Hilde! Thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful piece of information here. It is a good thing to come across this online here.

That is the type of garbage comment I keep receiving when I use the Website comment feature on WA. I would say 3 out of 4 comments I receive follow the same pattern.

Many times I bite the bullet and edit them, not wanting to have to deal with the hassle of rejecting and receiving comments over again.

I leave great comments on people's websites, I've left around 90 comments and all of them have been approved. I expect to receive similar quality in return! So from now on I am going to be stricter with the comments I approve.

You're right, we should demand quality and not settle. Otherwise people will keep putting minimal effort into their comments and we will all suffer for that. Maybe the folks at WA can keep track of accounts who have too many rejected comments and restrict their use of the feature.

Thanks Hilde

Hi, Hilde

Well done, I love people that say it as it is.
I too, am fed up with all the 'nonsense' written as feedback.

I feel people need to get a grip!
All the good talk about WA and people produce the feedback they do.

QUOTE FROM HILDE ...
Maybe the folks at WA can keep track of accounts who have too many rejected comments and restrict their use of the feature. (End quote)

I agree!

Well done, Hilde.

Thanks again,

Joe 90

WA does. I'm here just under 2 months. I had some mis understanding on the part of WA and am now in comment jail. Not sure how long. But I am learning. Even though I have no means of going back to the original comment...wish that was possible...to learn exactly where I went wrong. Im grateful for all the feedback and when I am able to use tge comments system again I will be much better at it. Thank you.

Great Hilde, Great insights.
You could bold these parts:
1. It is actually better not to give a comment especially in website comments if you do not know what to write.
2. My advice: Disapprove comments of low quality to improve this service WA offers us.
These are very important you your list of good and bad comments will help all - I have bookmarked this and will share this when I get low quality comments on SiteComments & I have received so so many of them.
Thank you, John

Thank you John!
Today I asked for comments again and I had to disapprove many of them. Why? Too much feedback and Too generic mostly.

Also when a person write a comment they often say: Thank you this was very helpful for us here. My question is: what do you mean with us here? Who are you talking on behalf of?

Why not write: Thank you I found your article very helpful to me because.....

Many do not know the difference on Feedback and comments.

I will bold out the parts you mentioned - good idea. Thank you John

The best part of this post is that when you, me or anyone has to disprove these D-grade Cookie Cutter Crappy comments in future, we can link to your article - with a short addition - like - "This post explains why I disapprove of low quality comments and guides you how to write high quality comments instead".

By doing that, we can make the "Cookie Cutter Commenters" look in the mirror, one Cookie Cutter Commenter at a time.

May the force be with you...

That is actually a genius idea ! I will do that myself. Lol. Thank you John!

Hi, Hilde

Great Stuff!

Joe 90

Hilde, thank you for pointing this out! Unfortunately, I just had to disapprove one yesterday. :( I tried to edit it, but I think I was literally just rewriting it.

I also am to the point of frustration when it comes to giving comments... I keep getting the same one website for like every 9 of 10 comments. And I'm not the only one. Do you know of any way around getting the same site? (I clicked 'not interested' but I don't really want to do that, as it is hurting my own stats)

~Haze

Hi Haze,
I too, get the same wedsite, I think I know the website you are talking about!. I too do not want to hurt my stats!
I would like to know; How this particular website; Is able to 'Hog' all the lime-light?

Question! How many articles, does that person, (The website owner!) have to read, to be able to get all those replied feedback comments, in-any-case?.

Let me tell you what I do, to see the liars that do not read the articles, the ones that skim-over, get an overview of what is in front of them!

I put my article up for comment; let us say 1pm; I wait at my 'Laptop'; to see how long it takes the comment feedback; I have have one feedback back, the other day; it took 2 mins, to get feedback; I went to the kitchen to get a drink; by the time I got back; hey, comment feedback! (huh!)

My articles are usually; 3,000, 4,000, 4,500 words long approx,; how could the article be read it 2 mins?.

However, let me tell you, the feedback comment, was brilliant! So I approved it! Ha, Ha, Ha! (Cheeky!)

He, and I said, he; Can come back anytime! Just leave the same type, fulfilling comment!

Would anyone like to leave (Me!) any low-quality comment feedback?. (Keep it short!)

Kind regards'

Joe 90

You can change interests. Or just do not comment. You do not have to click not interested. Just wait for a while and another site will pop up.

Thank you! 🙂

You are welcome.!

Where is what you say stated? I have never seen that message anywhere?.

I am now wondering; If I am the only one that misses, all the signs? Hmmm!

(Do's and Don'ts!)

Joe 90

Hi Haze,

Thanks for the like!.

Joe 90

It is not stated anywhere Joe! It is something I found out that is possible to do. Most of the Dos and donts are in the training Joe! You probably just missed it or did not get to it yet. If anything just ask.

Hi Regina,

As always, thanks!

Joe 90

Hello Regine,

Well sometimes, I was guilty of this but one of the problems I noticed with Site Support is you were asked for your interests in the beginning so that the system can filter those websites looking for comments with the same interests as you, but I found sometimes my list to contain a long line of irrelevant topics/articles/websites. And I don't want to skip as well.

So I normally don't enjoy giving comments naturally on these websites (I am sorry).

But on those websites/topics/articles/products that I have the same interest, I hope I was able to give quality comments (they were approved for the most part). because I genuinely enjoyed reading the articles all through out until the end. It comes in naturally to think of your experiences, what is your opinion, have you used those products before, do you agree or disagree, do you have something to add, etc. so you have a lot to say. I can easily comment with 3-4 paragraphs without realizing it.

I even enjoyed commenting/reading about umbrellas and shared how my umbrella saved my life a long time ago.

Good point! The best is if you comment on what you like.

Hi Regine,
I thought I was the only one! I can always tell the people that read the article through to at-least to the end!
The quality shows and you feel the reader gets you!

Recently, I have had to disapprove a few bits, of what I considered/perceive to be rubbish, (Sorry!) that you spend tokens for the privilege, wasted! (So now, I disapprove instantly.)

I am so glad the fraudsters, are now being exposed! Hear! Hear!

I do not hold back as to why, I disapproved! (Time-wasters!)

Thanks again, for hight-lighting, the bad behaviour; really people, what are you thinking?

Joe 90

No you are not the only. I think most of us are guilty of this in one way or another. My intent with this is that we become a bit more aware and not just give a comment to earn money or just to get a credit, but actually add some value and helpthe writer. Partha had some good points I forgot to write about genuinity.
