Same Old Same Old.

So its the same old story.....

New website, new niche, enthusiasm bubbling... looking great !

But then I look around for affiliate programmes...

Usual story... no one wants to know because its a new site and so a glut of rejections come through.. I do not want to use Amazon on this site. I dont like the fact that they impose so many restrictions on how to use their links, that they pay so miserably for a referral.

I had made a decision not to use Amazon and I am going to stick to that.

I will have to wait and continue populating the site with articles, links, social media and try again in a few months.

A frustrating day but plenty of work to do and worrying about monetising this site right now isnt worth it.

Have a great weekend.

A friend recently gave me some advice about my new site and be added to affiliate programs, wait until you have 10-15 posts on the new site before you ask to be added as an affiliate. This give the company more content to review and give you a better chance of being added as an affiliate. I have found this to be sound advice. You will have to make your own decision.
Jerry

Thanks Jerry, Ive 10 now, so Ill do a few more then give it another go!

Funny -- I just wrote a post to Joe, telling him people kept saying my niche wouldn't make me any money, and replied that I love it and enjoyed what I was doing, so why change?

I hear you on Amazon. I started with them, and slowly added other affiliates. Now I am gradually phasing Amazon back out. If I have a million tasks to complete, though, it's nice to jump onto Amazon and find a product you can use right now. They have their uses. Meanwhile, also on the perennial search for new affiliates.

It is frustrating because I can see the affiliate programmes I want but the site is not good enough yet. Onward and upward !

Just think of building a strong foundation for a structure that will last for years. Once your foundation is strong enough, the affiliate programs will come.

You are totally right, Ill keep on keeping on.!

Don't be discouraged, if you think about it, it's really not a problem. New Site usually means zero visitors, so just keep writing those articles and worry more about getting ranked. If you need to, just throw in some Amazon affiliate links just in case there is a chance to make some money. Once the traffic starts coming in, you will be able to get some affiliate approvals form ShareASale, etc...

Thanks Thom. You are right, no visitors yet, so ill keep on going.. not going to cave in an put amazon things on it, its so little and I object to being offered such a paltry amount. I also feel that having just amazon as the only affiliate on a site is really not ideal, but Ill keep going !

You may not have to wait a few months! Speaking as the rep from Awin and ShareASale, I would say wait until you have 8-12 articles before applying, as that helps us to see the direction you are going, but I'm guessing that threshold isn't months away.

Are you already accepted into any networks? Often you can just add another website to your list of sites and that can hasten your approval.

What's your niche on the new site? Perhaps I can suggest some merchants for you.

Thanks Jeannine,

I have joined Commission Factory and CJ but then you apply to the merchant from within that. I wanted specifically tennis orientated merchants as that is the niche of my website. My son is a junior international tennis player and when he was age 11, we went to Spain for him to train at a top tennis academy there. We have been there 7 years so with the experience and knowledge I have from this aspect of his career, I have started a website. So its not about all tennis stuff but experiences and travel etc that went into the last 7 years. He is now moving onto tennis college in the USA with academic and tennis scholarship at university. So the next journey starts!

If you can direct me to any networks that will help is great ! I have 8 as of today, website is only a couple of weeks old.

I love the site! You have a very special perspective on tennis which makes it super interesting.

I did find some merchants on ShareASale who would probably love to work with you.

https://www.doittennis.com/
https://oncourtoffcourt.com/
Perhaps https://www.efootwear.com/

And of course I instantly thought of this one on Awin:

I ran your site past our review team, and they liked what they saw. They just said it needs a bit more content to move forward. So keep sharing your knowledge and experience, and then you should be just fine.

Jeannine, that is fantastic ! Thanks so much for doing all that ! Its awesome to know you like my site, and the reviewers do too ! Thats great news ! Ill take note of the sites you suggest and get on creating more content! Thankyou !

You'll get there, Helen! Well done!

Jeff

No doubt Jeff but would be nice to get a break sometimes.

I know exactly what you mean, Helen!
