Information for Heart Surgery Patients
I hope it alright to share this, but since this was such a help to me before and after my open heart surgery, I thought it might be of interest to others. It helped to see me through a scary and difficult time, and allowed me to learn about what I was going through and to connect with others in similar circumstances. I received a great deal of support, also. (I had a successful open heart surgery in February 2011 to repair a leaking bicuspid aortic valve and resulting aneurysm.)
There is a site called Heart Valve Journal where patients can connect with other heart surgery patients and get information and support. There is a wealth of information about surgeries and surgeons and related topics on the site. It is a good place to journal your experiences, which can help you as well as help others. It is also a way, if you choose, to let others know about your progress. You can also read the journals of other members. The site was started and is run by Adam Pick, a former heart surgery patient.
