I want it all. right now!
Last night as I was attempting to go to sleep, my wife still had the TV on the HGTV channel. It was on the Property Brothers program. I have nothing against the twin brothers who are trying to make a TV show.
But I have noticed a trend on these programs. It seems to me that many of the people want it all? They want it all, and they want it now! They want everything they want, when they want it, where they want it and how they want it. There is no room for compromise in either location, wants and whatever else they might want. Not to mention they want it at the price they want to pay. I have noticed very seldom do the wants and the budgets match. My wife have a little saying, "I have champagne tastes on a beer budget."
I am not trying to rag on any generation, but I have noticed a trend. I have noticed we are sometimes confused on the difference between needs, wants and desires. We want the desires, even when we cannot afford to pay the price for those desires. (This isn't just money, but sometimes the willingness to work hard enough or spend enough time to earn those desires).
So what do we do? Normally, we need a dose of reality! We need to ask the question, "can I afford this?" If the answer is no, then what do we do? We figure out if we are willing to pay the price. If we are, then we move forward paying the price. If no, then we should not expect someone else to give it to us.
Why am on this little rant? I'm not totally sure, but had this on my mind and heart, so I started writing.
I challenge us to keep looking inward and asking is this a need, a want, or a desire. Make sure the needs are taken care of, then when the price of the wants or desires can be paid, go for it.
Sometimes we need a little patience and in time we will achieve and/or receive the wants and hopefully a bunch of the desires. We don't start with the desires. We move up the ladder to them.
Ask yourself, maybe a little more often, "Is this a need, a want, or a desire?"
Have an awesome day!

mmmmmmmm I'm very much into the 'Secret' and you want, you ask, you imagine you have it and you receive with giving back in someway. So I need, I want, I desire all the time. I will make it happen!
hmmmm, all I want and my greatest desire right now is to be able to understand everything through the WA training to get my websites up and running the right way. It's a slow undertaking for me as my understanding of geek's pretty limited.
"Is this a need, a want, or a desire?" Hmmm, yes, I need, I want and I desire.
Thank you for sharing this post Harold. Be blessed......

Excellently worded! I ask myself these things a lot. I still get too many things I don't need, but the process of questioning myself saves me from getting a lot of useless trinkets. Too often, we want things and really don't want to pay the price- it is in those times remembering the price goes far beyond the tag and if it was created it took some part of the earth to make it. Was that cost worth it? Keep asking. Maybe that will help us all walk lighter on the earth. :)
We used to watch Property Brothers quite often. I enjoyed their sense of reality, especially compared to their clients, as you have noted. This is certainly a business that requires us to work for what we can make but the final result will hopefully be magnificent.
