The lost art of thinking, the new Renaissance
In a recent book by Perry Marshall he discusses The new Renaissance, creating a different way of life.
The Renaissance period was one of change and we are in a similar period now when small changes can create big differences.
Perry spends a time every morning contemplating the big issues that can make a massive difference to his life.
We get bogged down in hard work and creating material because that is what works. In fact at WA you will hear someone saying every day do the work and the results will come. Good advice but maybe we could look at what not to do as much as what to do.
The idea is to think big, not the everyday issues we all have but those ideas that will create a difference in our life.
What is the value of an Idea? It could be a radical change in direction or adding a new product that has been missing from your portfolio. By thinking through these ideas they can reach the light of day and change your life completely.
I have my to-do list, my Keyword selected for yet another post and my hours in the day organized to create the best outcome. In any day i am Busy for most of the time creating and producing, but am I thinking?
I am a convert to a time of looking for big ticket items that will make both a financial difference and a time difference in my activity.
My small business has a manual billing program that I out source. It is labour-intensive because there are quite a few fiddly bits that need to be charged. When I forgot the fiddly bits my saving in labour would be greater than the return I get. Apply a one time fee and save an estimated $5000 a year in labour cost. Margins are tight so It may really produce results.
My thinking time found a winning solution.

Yes, every morning note book in hand I try to find an idea that will produce great value.

Time spent in contemplation is never wasted Peter, whether is about new ideas, reworking old ideas or just letting the mind ramble and see what pops up.
Thoughts can change our lives and change the world. Like or loathe him, look at Elon Musk, he has or is in the process of changing so much.
But don’t scoff at thinking small as well, there are a lot of smaller ideas and just grit that have got people through .

I am also a Musk fan because he has achieved extraordinary success with things that will alter the world.
And yes even small ideas can bring personal change, we just need to use our head space.
