WordPress Privacy Settings: Look No Further
Hi. Have you wanted to improve your website, and decided to make it private during the process? If you're like me, then you have had a devil of a time finding the privacy settings. Not the search engine privacy, but the one that blocks everyone until you decide otherwise. Well, look no further. There are privacy plug ins that allow you block everyone while you update. The one that I just added is called "More Privacy Options". After I installed it, I was able to go to Settings, Reading, and finally Site Visibility. I wish that I could take credit for this knowledge, but I learned it from this guy: http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/make-wordpress-blog-private/ . Visit his site and show him some love. In the meantime, cheers to your creative privacy.
keep pushing,
Meghan

Nice to know, but just be careful.
Joe Foley says to check off the "Discourage search engines" part in the settings. I did this once when I was new and wanted to keep my site private, but Kyle told me to never, ever check the "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" box.
Just what I learned.:)
Yes. That's the good part about this plug in. You have the option of making your site private without turning off the SEO option. This used to be a standard feature on WordPress, but for some reason it has changed.
