Before adding links, you need to go to Ebay.ca (or whatever your home country), to select the item you wish to add to your site. Once you select your item, you will be going back to your Ebay Partner Network to generate your link. Follow these steps:

Go to Ebay site=> Search for your item by name or category=>

Once you choose your item, write the 12-digit item number located bottom Right hand corner

Now go back to your Ebay Partner Network. Follow these steps:

Click on “Tools” tab=> “Link Generator” then select the following options:

Advertiser: Ebay

Select program: Ebay.ca (your home country’s Ebay)

Link type: Check “item ID” box

Item ID: Type in the item number in the box (12-digit number you previously wrote down)

Geo Target: Check yes (to know where clicks are coming from-optional)

Campaign name: Choose the name that makes sense to you (either product, category or date)

Custom ID: Choose whatever makes sense to you (number/word/combination)

Now click on the “Generate Link” tab on the bottom

Once you get code, copy and paste it into your website or post.

Hope this is helpful for those struggling with Ebay links.

Cool, thank you for the info!

Thanks for the Ebay tip. I haven't been dropped from Amazon YET. This might come in handy at some point.

Thanks for the tips. I haven't thought of eBay yet. I added some new affiliate links also. I deleted all the Amazon links. I will see how it goes with the new ones.

How come you deleted Amazon links? I am also with Linkshare, and there you have a choice of companies you want to affiliate with. Their links are much more straightforward than Ebay's

Thanks Gordi this is useful :)

Thomas

Great information! Thank you for sharing. I am going to save this info.

Thanks Gordi, how is ebay going for you? have you given up on Amazon?
I have so many amazon links that I am dreading having to change affiliates, but am considering e-bay.

Yup Taylor, Amazon dropped me, so I had to delete ALL Amazon links!! No fun! Now that I figured out how to add Ebay links, its getting easier. Still waiting for sales. Made some changes to my website, so hopefully they were improvements. How is going for you?

Hey Gordi,
If you still feel you want Amazon links you can sign up with VigLinks.com (no affiliation). They are basically a third party affiliate provider. They do a lot of volume on Amazon so they pay a higher commission than Amazon anyway.
Best Regards,
Jim

Well I haven't been dropped from Amazon yet, and I asked my roommmate to purchase something for me off my site- cheating the system I gues, just because I do not want to lose my amazon links. I think from here on out though I am not going to use Amazon much. I don't want to worry about getting cut. Maybe this weekend I will tackle ebay.

If you made sales they won't drop you. They dropped me, so I had no choice but to look elsewhere. I was with Linkshare and Clickbank, but most of my items were from Amazon. I find ebay quite comparable to Amazon for products, but their links are a pain, as you have to enter item # and then get the link, every time you want to add an item.

That does sound a bit complicated. Yikes.

How do you like Linkshare and clickbank? I have accounts with both, but haven't gotten around to figuring them out yet.

Taylor, I find Linkshare and Clickbank easy to add. I think I am starting to have a pretty good understanding of what is useful in a link and what isn't, as all my links are now coming up fine, and no more " 404 Page not found" messages.
Ebay links are just more work to add because you have to change item # with every item you want to add. If you have any questions if/when you sign up with Ebay feel free to ask me for help.

Great- thank you!
I want to give a day to just focus on links and affiliates and such, and hopefully sooner than later.

Good job Gordi.... nice and simple training!!!

Thank you. I did a blog, as I didn't know how to post a training format.

Yah, I haven't gone there yet either Gordi. I guess if there's points or commissions to be made, might not be a bad idea to invest a little time in reading up on it! (-;

YAY, Gordi....you figured it out. You go, girl....it's all coming together now!

Continued success,

Suz

Happy about that, for sure, Suze
