My Wife Quit Her Job - Now What?
Have we lost our minds?
When it seems we're finally returning to a little normalcy coming out of this pandemic, my wife quits her job!
It may sound like a crazy thing to do at this time, it wasn't without in-depth planning and reaching specific goals that WE decided, that she should quit her job...at least for a year and then re-evaluate.
We have planned this option for a couple of years and said we would follow through with the decision only if we met specific parameters.
One of those parameters was of course to make enough income from our side hustle to replace her job income.
Another unique option she had that we know is not available to everyone is that she didn't really quit her job.
Sorry, the title was somewhat of clickbait.
My wife was able to take a leave without pay from work for one year with the option to return to the same position on her return. She can extend up to five years but likely in a different position.
Having that extra security really made us realize we had to take advantage of this opportunity. The plan is that she take this year to really bring our business to the next level and not return to work.
In case you haven't read my profile bio, we have created a successful woodworking business while we both work full-time jobs.
You may be asking what does woodworking have to do with affiliate marketing and Wealthy Affiliate?
It may not sound like there is any correlation but the lessons learned through WA really helped us out with marketing strategies to sell the furniture we build.
Creating a website and an online store really added an extra layer of credibility in our work that other small local woodworking businesses do not provide.
We were so excited when we realized that she can take this time off to focus on creating an even more successful business.
Now we are also working on our next goal, for me to quit my job.
Right now we are aiming for approximately 1 year from now when I have the option to retire from my job, yes I am that old which goes to you're never too old to try new things.
We are confident that we can meet if not exceed our goal in that respect as we have done it before, now we only need to repeat and duplicate.
Looking to many more interesting years learning new things and reaching new goals.
What are your goals? Are you making any plans to quit your job?
Cheers
Paul

Congratulations.
I got made redundant several years ago. I was creating for and running an online craft business. I decided to give myself 8 months to step it up to the next level and earn as much as my job had supplied. I had been learning and running it for 4 years at that point.
I never looked back. I still have that business and now am doing this too. A juggling act with family but it is great fun.
Wonderful to see that the time off opportunity was available for your wife and you to take advantage of. You can now really put in more effort into the woodworking business and seek to realize its full potential. Imagine what will happen in a year when you are able to truly join her full time. The sky's the limit. All the best.

I'm trying to start and run my own business friend. I have so many ideas. At the moment, I'm learning and putting info together to start the small ones first as I set them up to run smoothly, then focus on the biggest one.
It was great to have learned that you and your wife have been planning this out ahead of time. Only you and your wife know when to pull the plug on working for someone else. All the best!
