Facebook Customer Support: How NOT to Treat Your Customers

WARNING! This post is a rant about Facebook.

On February 5, 2024, I received a content removal notice from Facebook.

"What we've got here is failure to communicate." (classic line in the movie "Cool Hand Luke")

Facebook neglected to tell me which piece of content they removed or when I posted it.

The Facebook removal notice includes a process to request another review, but it is limited in scope for several reasons, including "it was a joke." Not knowing which of my posts was removed, I chose the "awareness" category to make people aware of a particular subject. There is no "Other" category with fill-in-the-blank.

Making it difficult for Facebook members to challenge post removal is dishonest and reflects a lack of care for the company's members.

Failing to communicate with customers is a sure way to lose their loyalty, if not their business. Communication failures include not responding quickly to queries or acknowledging feedback.

Bottom Line: Every customer interaction is an opportunity to build loyalty and create long-term advocates for your brand.

I guess from FB's perspective, the users are NOT their customers since they are using the service for free. the advertisers are the paying customers. Therefore, the employees are probably not motivated or incentivized to serve the users, only the customers! Sad, but it is what it is, only what is measured gets done in big companies.

That's a good assessment, Stanley. I should have made the distinction because FB's customers (the advertisers) sell to the membership.

Facebook seems to feel they are above us mere peons. We only supply the audience they need, but that doesn't seem to make an impression. Good for you for speaking out.

Thanks, Fran. FB has forgotten that they need us more than we need them.

Good for you, Glen, I think Facebook deserves a rant!

Interestingly enough, I just created a YouTube video about Facebook this morning and how they can disable accounts for no reason!

It appears to me that Facebook just does what it wants to. They really don't deserve our business, we should all find alternatives! To me, social media is not social media, if you can't post something that doesn't go with the Facebook narrative!

I agree, Glen; it is important to build loyalty, which is something that Facebook does not have.

All the best.

Roy

Thanks, Roy. I read that YT has lowered its advertising standards by changing its monetization policy.

It's a pleasure, Glen!

I did hear something about YouTube changing its monetisation policy, but I don't know the full details.

Have a great day.

Roy

I agree wit you, my friend! I bailed from them a while back, We'll see if I venture back at some point.

Jeff

I wouldn't bother, Jeff; I believe that Facebook has a pretty awful policy. I recently had an account closed for no reason. They don't deserve the business!

All the best.

Roy

I know what you mean, Roy! We will see how it progress going forward!

Jeff

Have a look at my reply to Jim, Jeff! They really don't deserve the business!

Roy

I took a look, Roy!

I agree!

Jeff

I have thought about leaving FB, but I have a business page.

I have a business page too, but I have forgotten the password to my account, and they have not gotten back to me, It is just another road block to getting back there.

Jeff

I also have an Instagram account, Jeff, which I only really useful when someone sends me something on Instagram. The other day, I had logged out of Instagram and had to log in, which was no problem.

However, I received a message from Instagram, which is part of Facebook. The message read something like, "You have logged in from a different device; you won't have full access to all services for a few days"!

The fact is that I logged in from my computer which is where I always log into Instagram from. Imagine if I had a million followers on Instagram or Facebook, and they decided to do that! I guess we have to remember that Facebook is a globalist organisation.

Have a fantastic day.

Roy

Thank you, Jeff!

Roy

That sounds about right, Jeff!

Roy

I know where you're coming from, Glen!

Roy

I have never really been a fan of Fakebook, Roy, but I am looking on with interest!

Jeff

I think that's a good way to be, Jeff. I belong to a few platforms that seem to use Fakebook as a forum-type website. I really wish they wouldn't as it is such a cumbersome and clunky platform. It's much better what Wealthy Affiliate have, we can see the answer is clearly don't have to keep going backwards and forwards as you do with Faceache!

And of course, you never know when you're going to be banned!

Have a fantastic day.

Roy

I totally agree with your assessment, Roy!

Fakebook has been known to ban people for no apparent reason!

Happy Frisatsu!

Jeff

I think out of all the social media platforms or the popular ones, Faceache is by far the worst. Not only because they ban people unexpectedly, but also for usability. It's a real fiddle having to read comments, as they don't show all the comments at once; even if you ask them to, it still holds things back! It's not clever.

Have a fantastic weekend, Jeff.

Roy

It might be a while before I venture back into Fakebook, Roy!

We shall see!

Jeff

I don't blame you, Jeff!

I'm kind of disappointed that so many people use Fakebook as a forum and for groups, etc. We have a Faceache group for the village, which is useful, but it's such an awful platform.

For example, it may say that a post has nine comments, but you can only see one comment, so you have to keep playing around to find the remainder of comments! And sometimes they just don't show!

Rant of the day over!

Have a fantastic Sunday, Jeff.

Roy

People do how they want to, Roy!

I've never really used it all that much.

Happy Sunday!

Jeff

It seems that way, Jeff!

That sounds like a good and fortunate thing, Jeff!

Have a great day.

Roy

We just have to go wit the flow, Roy--come what may!

Enjoy your Monday!

Jeff

That's very true, Jeff!

Have you been able to do any more of your project with, Mel? I must admit it did sound like quite a good idea, but I also appreciate everything takes time especially when you have various projects on.

Have a fantastic Tuesday.

Roy

Mel and I have been very busy in our own lives with things, but I have a post in draft on our joint project. Having trouble unloading images, but priorities come first.

Happy Tuesday!

Jeff

I can believe that, Jeff! I just find it amazing how quickly time goes, we get up in the morning and before you know it, we are going back to bed!

That's good that your project is still moving forward.

I hope you can sort out the image uploading issue. Maybe need to ask a question to the community, possibly.

Have a great day.

Roy

All in good time, Roy! There is no urgency. Things worthwhile take time!

Happy HUMP Day!🐫

Jeff

That's so very true, Jeff!

I really hope that your idea works with Mel, as it sounds like something with great potential.

Wishing you a fantastic Saturday.

Roy

I'm sure it will, Roy!

He and I just have a lot of other things going on right now, but it will start to gel over time!

Happy Saturday!

Jeff

That sounds good, Jeff.

I think many of us have some great ideas, but most of us are busy, so some projects have to wait. Let's hope you move forward soon with your project.

Have a great week.

Roy

We make some small strides and bounce ideas off of each other, Roy!

We will get there one way or another!

Enjoy your new week!

Jeff

I think that's great, Jeff and one of the many great things about the Wealthy Affiliate platform!

Iron sharpens iron!

That's good, Jeff; I'm sure you will get there, too.

Have a great day.

Roy

Little by little, day by day, I, and many others will eventually get there, Roy!

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Jeff

There is a good way of looking at it, Jeff! We have to remember that everything takes time, but the main thing is we are consistent. You are amazingly consistent, Jeff on the Wealthy Affiliate platform!

A very happy hump Day to you.

Roy

Consistency is definitely key, Roy!

Happy HUMP day 🐫

Jeff

It is indeed, Jeff! Which kind of comes down to having a routine, which I believe you have.

Have a great Thursday.

Roy

Yes, Roy! I definitely have a routine!

Happy Thursday!

Jeff

It’s Facebook and they do what they want. I have been trying to contact support for almost a month now. They disabled my account and pages for an unknown reason. They have not responded to emails, instagram requests, or tweets. I started yesterday tagging them on LinkedIn. Hopefully one day will get the account back that I’ve had for several years.

Hello Jim,

I had exactly the same thing happen! I don't actually use Facebook very much; however, I do have two business pages that I post on occasionally. The business pages are still live, but I cannot edit them as my main profile page is disabled. I also have had no response, Jim!

I hope they respond to you soon. I just find myself going around in circles with Facebook!

All the best.

Roy

At least FB only removed a post. I allegedly violated PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy years ago, They limited my personal account and held my money for 180 days,

That's really bad, Glen and not morally right!

Roy

PayPal wouldn't or couldn't tell me what the alleged violation was.

This is the bit that I find so bad, Glen. If it's so bad, these people should tell us exactly what the problem is, so we either know for another time or we can defend ourselves.

Have a great day.

Roy
