Glen's Guide to Building an Online Business
There are four steps to building a business and if you don't follow each one you will never see sales. The four building blocks are:
- Products
- Traffic
- Sales
- Trust
A Great Product

A great product is one that solves a problem for your audience. Some of the best niches and products to sell fall in the health and wellness niche. This is because when people search for help on these things they are desperate to get a product or service that solves that need or problem.
Having a great product alone is only the first part of having a successful business. If people don't see your offer they can't buy it. No matter how great your product is.
As an affiliate marketer you a myriad of products that you can sell. And you sell by offering a solution to the problem in the form of information. If they like what you say they click on the link and buy.
Traffic

The second thing you need is traffic without people coming to your site you will never get any sales.
Organic Traffic
Organic traffic is traffic that doesn't cost us anything but our time. We offer time in the form of creating information. Rank it using Search Engine Optimization techniques and when we create enough information we see lots of traffic to our site which in turn will result in sales.
Paid Traffic
Paid traffic is when you pay to have traffic to your site. Paid traffic is the fastest because you just turn it on and you have traffic.
Paid traffic is the most risky because just because you pay to get someone to your site does not mean you will get a sale.

I teach my students to start with organic traffic because there is no monetary risk involved in building this type of traffic source.
Once you have experience you might choose to use paid traffic but be warned you can lose a lot of money very quickly if not done exactly right.
Sales

Sales are when things get exciting. We have chosen the perfect product one that people need and are desperately searching for. We have traffic coming to our site but people still won't buy.
But Why?
It's trust!
People need to trust you before they will buy.
Trust

You build trust by offering lots of content that helps to solve the need.
It has been said that most people will not buy on the first visit to your site. This is why I teach my students how to build a list. If someone comes to your site and you get there name and email you can then let them know when you create new information that addresses there problem.
The more often they visit our site the more likely they are to buy. We establish trust.

It is our Job as Content and Affiliate Marketers to offer people a solution to a problem.
The solution will come in the form of content and product offerings that we offer to solve that problem.
When the customer comes to our site and can freely read and learn how to solve that problem they will trust us and eventually purchase a product we offer.
