Links that lead to online shops for instance, if I put links in the content now, people clicking on the links with not be monetizing my site, so how does this occur?
Yes...the links need to be "affiliated" somehow through affiliate IDs that the shops (like Amazon) gives you.

So basically, the links only monetise the site if they are part of an affiliate program? Do most online stores have these affiliate programs?
