create another menu and add it to it and then go to your widget tab and create a custom widget and add it to it on the side bar.
Is there a way to get my website indexed by google fast? I have the content posted on my homepage.
It takes time to get indexed. But what I personally like to do is to ping each post and it seems to help. You can do it for free at a couple of places like pingmylink.com and pingmyurl.com. I just use the ping service, dont use the backlink services. They could give you many low quality backlinks that will not help you at all, in fact they would hurt you.

I can't log into akismet to get the api key needed to activate the plugin for my site using the wordpress site admin login that I already have. Please help.
Have you tried the process described at http://docs.akismet.com/getting-started/activate/ ? (Ignore the Jetpack installation directions)
Where are you in the installation process when it fails? Do you get any error messages?
Let us know, and we should be able to sort it out!

Here is what's confusing, in my dashboard it says that I have the akismet plugin activated, but I have a big green button on the upper left hand side of the screen that says to create an akismet account and get an api key. Do I need the api key since the akismet plugin is already active?
You're almost done, Gerald.
Click on the big green button to get your API key and finish the installation. Akismet single handedly saves me from over a hundred spam comments every day.
The API key is what ties the plugin to the Akismet server - which tells the plugin which comments are likely spam and which ones it should let pass.
Give it a go!

You are right on track! Yes to high competition and it is excellent if a large number of keyword searches to only have 1-100 websites trying to rank for it. Also referred to as QSR (Quoted Search Results) meaning websites that have quoted the keyword exactly as searched keyword(s) Hopefully that helped and not cause confusion.
