to make the font smaller, look for this in the style.css file...
.site-title {
margin: 0;
font-size: 70px;
padding-bottom: 15px;
font-weight: 700;
}
where it says "font-size" change 70 to the size that you want.
Don't see the text widget you're referring to...

If you want to adjust the font of the site title, you will need to go into the .css file Appearance>>editor
Look for this line of code and enter the font-size: 34pt; (for example)
it is currently set to -webkit-xxx-large this appears to be between 52 and 53pt currently.

}
It would look like this then

font-size: 52pt;
}
