This Pre-Moment Christmas

A Christmas Moment

• It is two days before Christmas, here in my sisters house
• Peaches plays catch with 'Chuckit' her ball
• No stockings are hung, no chimney in here
• We hope that Santa knocks on the door this year
• Annie is still sleeping, like mostly she does
• Is she dreaming of dog bones around in her head
• And my wife in her nightgown and me in housecoat
• Have just gotten up from a restless nights sleep
• When out in the yard there was a loud noise
• I got up out of my chair and tripped on dog toys
• Walked to the window as fast as I could
• Opened the vertical blinds, and scraped off some frost
• The full moon still shines on almost melted snow
• Giving brightness appearing like as if afternoon day
• There to my tired eyes what did I see
• A little skunk clawing at a Spruce tree
• The little old neighbor, so lively and quick
• I knew it was him his walking stick I could see
• He chased that skunk right out of our yard
• As fast as he could his legs they did run
• Then he whistled and shouted and called out for some reason by name
• “Now! Dasher, now! Dancer, now! Prancer, and Vixen, On! Comet, on! Cupid, on! Dunder and Blixem"
• I thought he was Santa, or I choose to believe....
• I would go on with my story and parody for all to read
• Yet it is Christmas with our lovely family I came here to see
• So Merry Christmas to you all my WA friends I wish you only the best and safely to be
• With those that you love, family, friends and blessing for a New Year
• I will see you back here then
