When You're About To Run Out Of New Engaging Ideas Within Your Niche, Is It Time To Look For A New?

My last post is 3755 words. Is this too much for a single post? Should I consider splitting it in 2 or 3 posts? I've heard that most people only read the first 20% of a post be

My product review for WA ended up being 2,800 words.

If it takes you that many words to get your point across than it's perfectly fine. I have a few that are around the 2600 word range. Just remember to add images to your posts that relate to what you're talking about as it helps break up a long page of text, which I think is more the reason why people will leave. If its formatted correctly with headings and is appealing to the eye, length doesn't matter.
Thank you for your good advice. My post is about how to read music notes and have plenty of pictures and illustrations explaining the content. I think I've done things correctly, just thought that there were too many words compared to the other posts I had created.

It took a while to get this through my head and now I would prefer to take a week to do ONE interesting Blog that people want to read until they reach the end, rather than do a post every day that bores people. That is why they switch off.
Nope you don't need to!
There are lots of posts that rank first page in google that are 5000+ words!
Im currently working on one that is going to be 6000+ words!

I thought previously too long a post might put people off, but if you are writing good stuff and breaking it up then why not. I have never done a post over 1200 words but my recent one is now at 2,789 words and It will be over 3,000 by the time it is finished. But break it up into sections. Small chapters so people can see headings in advance. They know something new is coming and if they are interested in what they are currently reading then they will move on to the next section. This is my advice and what I am now implementing.
When people leave after 20% it means they are not interested, correct?
And if your post is like an interesting book and you really like the story you will to read it to the end, right?

Hey Geir,
Sounds good to me. I have one post that ended up over 5000 words (included updates).
What I did was to offer a table of contents AFTER my initial few paragraphs into my topic. That way, readers could easily click forward to what ever part of my subject they wanted more info on, plus making it easier for readers to refer back to my post subtitles.

if it is an interesting post and one people want ot read then they will read it - if it is a post which does not match the title then people will bounce.
but no 3700 words is not too many for one post
