I'm A Little Tired Of This! From Big Name Entrepreneurs Part 1
I watch a lot of videos of other marketers, online entrepreneurs and presenters on Facebook and YouTube. I primarily watch for general presentation and the quality of the content as well. As I watch these presentations, I also pay attention to other people who are watching these videos.
I read the comments to understand where the minds of the people are and what they are responding to the most. From what I've gathered from these videos, there are certain presentations people are not too favorable of and I'm here to share some of those thoughts with you today.....
Let's start with the most common or most frequent videos people see the most online...(Thanks to these guys' advertising budgets)
Let's start with Tai Lopez......
Tai Lopez is a lot of things but to summarize, he's an entrepreneur who apparently helps people become self-starters. He has done a lot of talks on Ted ex and has made many appearances in major marketing and business conferences around the world including talks at Major Universities. He sells a couple of products....one is called 67 steps and the other is called "the agency" ($997). Both of these products I"m sure the products are pretty good.
What's most interesting about Tai is his presentation style. Even though he has a lot of value to share with people in terms of general information about self-help principles, life principles and business acumen, there is still a gaping hole when it comes to him expressing and describing his products.
We know that he sells information on how to start a social media advertising agency, but that's it. He doesn't really go into light detail about what to expect within the product. He just mentions the product and then goes back into his spill about how "motivated" you need to be and how much knowledge you need to get what you want....as if no one knows that already.
Also, every time you watch his videos, you will notice how much time he spends on talking about his stuff and his home as if that's going to motivate people to "take action" on his site. When in reality, I have seen many people totally trash this guy for showing his stuff off. More people than you think.
Obviously, He has a right to show his stuff off but it has to be done in context. Set aside a whole segment for that and set aside a segment for sharing your knowledge. The reality is, people who have less than you are naturally going to get turned off by you showing off because they feel like you are rubbing it in...especially when you aren't humble about it.
And it doesn't matter if you use that tired line "I'M NOT TRYING TO IMPRESS YOU BUT IMPRESS UPON YOU......." People are still distracted by what you're displaying as oppose to what you're saying.
There are also segments that I don't care for such as, him going on rants about people expressing legitimate concern about him not sharing simple basic details about his products.....he tends to just write people off and call them haters for being logical. This only tells me that you still don't understand how to conduct yourself as a professional, which is ironic because he claims that he reads one book a day concerning everyday life principles and yet you're calling people out and going on tirades about people asking simple questions. That's the fastest way to lose customers.
There was a video on Facebook where he calls himself selling his social agency product and gets really inappropriate....you tell me if you would buy a $997 product from this guy after watching this video on Facebook....

Guys like him feel just because they have a lot of money, regardless of how they make it, they can just say anything and do anything online and not get called out on it because they are rich and anything they say, people will go for it because they are paid. You tell me if you would listen to a guy this and sprint to his site and buy a $997 product from him.
Listen to me people, regardless of how much money you're making, you still need to sustain a certain amount of dignity, self-respect, and professionalism Just ask Tony Robbins. No matter what you think of him and his products, he has at least been consistent with his image and his presentation style.
On the surface, Tai Lopez seems like a really cool dude, but professionally, his presentation style is a little wild and I think it's because he feels like he has a lot of money and can just put anything out there like show off his lifestyle, talk mess and expect people to come running to his site.
In part two, I'm going to talk about the next issue, Grant Cardone

LMAO. I have a slingbox that I use to watch certain channels when I'm away from home. When it loads the play video ads that are anything from 15 seconds to an entire TV show that you can skip past after 5 seconds or whatever.
This guys has ads on there that are like 30 mins long. He starts out by saying that a lot of people had asked him about his stuff and starts giving a tour of his house, cars, etc. Because of the field we're in I'm always curious to see what people are using to sell stuff. So I watched a few minutes of this, before just saying "Shut up dude" and clicking skip. The funniest part is I had no idea what he was selling until I read your post.
I know in sales the say "sell the sizzle and not the steak" or something like that. But you have to at least let me know there's a steak there and what kind it is otherwise I'm just going to assume you're trying to hide the fact that there's nothing really there.
Great post.
Exactly!!! Man I have been sick of seeing thisb guy swindle people with that nonsense...did you see the Facebook video link I left in there? He gets really out of control there
LOL no. I try to avoid watching people make an a** out of themselves especially when I already think they are one, but I'll go check it out quick.
LMAO. OK that was great. I have the exact opposite philosophy. I want people to challenge everything I say, because either my defense of it will reinforce it in their mind or they'll produce something that makes me realize I'm wrong and I'll learn something. This is a post I put up just a couple of days ago. Before You Take Advice From Anyone Talk about a total lack of self awareness on this guys part. And if he really has so much money couldn't he higher someone to do a better job editing his videos? :)
If you think about it, post a link to your next article on my profile so I remember to check it out. I don't think I know who the guy you're talking about is, but it's worth taking a look.
Yes indeed....I will be sure to tag you on the article....I will work on it some time this week.
Thanks. Always appreciate it when a good writer appreciates my content. I figure they'll hold me to the same standards they hold themselves.
I got the same impression of him when I saw his presentation awhile back. He talks about motivation because it takes a lot to sell his high-end products.

I once again love your topic and opinion. If I may comment I'd like to say that By analyzing Tai and others we must be careful ( I do not really like Tai and I believe he is a huge fraud, BUT it appears that he has made it and by us noting what he does right and wrong will only fuel his arsenal and make him better at marketing his defunked product) Maybe I've got the wrong attitude also I'm not sure but I will say that I don't enjoy helping people who are frauds and by writing about him and what he could be doing right is helping him grow and that I will never want to do. What is also very disturbing is that there are countless people out there as I write this and they are succeeding financially with products /services that are totally useless. So I question who has it right? Is it you and me or is it people who will push any service/product and succeed. Does Tai really earn that much? Is he really that successful? And is he worth our time and effort/ have a great day. I love your posts.
I absolutely agree with your words sir! I have been in contemplation about this kind of topic for awhile because of what you mentioned about exposure...the real reason I decided to write this was because I got way too tired of how he and a few others have used their growth and popularity in the wrong light. Each have their own approach but there are way too many people supporting what he's doing and I wanted to at least use a platform like wealthy affiliate to properly expose this guy. I guess I figure if I can reach my peers, like yourself, then I can at least inspire someone to not follow in his footsteps through content or presentation style
IH and thanks for reading...appreciate you
I agree, I commented in good faith. I don't enjoy promoting these people and it kills me that the slogan in marketing in life goes like this. Talk good about me or talk bad as long as I'm talked about I'm getting advertisement. It just kills me. And OMG how on earth did Mark Cuban interviewing with him???? I'm obviously doing something wrong. Have a great one.
Lol....exactly.....I feel you there
You know it might help to flip this around a bit. Instead of focusing on him, consider his customers for a second. You're assuming that they're people getting suckered into buying stuff from this sleaze ball. To the extent that this true, then pointing out he's a sleaze ball probably helps these people stay away.
However, there are definitely plenty of unsuccessful sleaze balls in the world that probably want to be just like this guy. So arguably he's been very successful in cornering the sleaze ball market. Sure that makes him successful, but it also makes him a sleaze ball. (OK I've now officially used that term more than I have in probably my whole life.)
My point is that exposing him may bring more attention to him and may even make him more successful within his target audience. But there's no way you'll ever be able to stop these people from coming together and feeding off of each other. At least by exposing them for what they are, you help to quarantine the problem away from the rest of us.
Yes indeed! It's definitely a double binding situation.....me and other individuals might be doing him a favor by promoting even the dirtiest side of him, and at the same time, giving his followers and other people ideas about how to do similar sleazy stuff.....That's why I particularly chose to use this platform, because for the most part, there "appears" to be individuals who are sincere about starting their business and learning things the right way as oppose to falling into the temptation of turning to such individuals like Tai....believe it or not, there are still people who aren't really hip to this guy and others like him.
