Indian Curry

Have any of you ever tasted a good Indian curry. My wife and I have just finished eating our lunch. She prepared the most delicious Indian curry I have tasted in a long time.

I live in South Africa and we have a large Indian community, concentrated mainly in Natal, where I live. I was brought up on Indian food, because my father employed Indian truck drivers for his cartage business.

Indian food takes some getting used to but once you like it you are hooked. My father used to take our family to Indian fire walking ceremonies. I forget what they were called, but if I remember correctly it was called Ramadan. This was the high light of my life.

Every type of food you could imagine was on display. Fire walking was the highlight of the festivities. I once went up close and nearly got my hair singed. How do these people walk through such hot coals. It's something that I have never been able to explain.

Coming back to curry, if you have never tasted it please do your best to get hold of some.

In our modern societies it is possible to get hold of any food you desire. Try some genuine Indian curry and tell me what you think.

I also in Natal (Dbn) One cannot avoid curries here!

I live in Howick, which is just up the road from you.
Pop in when you are passing. Garth

I've gone to a few Indian restaurants, but must say there are things I don't really like, and of course, things that I do like.

I live in England and love Indian food. We have quite a families from India living in our street and sometimes just going past one of their houses with the strong aroma coming out of their house makes me feel hungry. I also love naan bread!!!

Yeah, Internetgranny, I love naan bread too.

I have the love of a curry when my dad was a little boy he grew up in India for 10yrs his mum grew up in Goa, so receipes got passed down the generations

I adore Indian food! All varieties, from the super spicy Vindaloo to the milder Korma. Love it all! Not only does it taste great, but it's very good for you because it's full of curcumin which has many health benefits. The best Indian food I've had was in Hong Kong and London, since alas I've never been to India. India is on my bucket list!

The fire walking is all about "mind over matter", basically hypnosis. The ever popular motivational speaker Tony Robbins used to hold firewalking sessions during his weekend retreats. The ability to walk on the fire is not limited to Indians :-) But don't do it without training or you'll sustain some serious burns!

I sometimes wonder why everyone get images of things like "fire walking" while talking about India..trust me that topic is alien to this country now.. lol can't even imagine of walking without shoes on a hot sunny day :D xD..

I haven't been to a fire walking ceremony for many years, so maybe it's not practiced here in SA anymore, as well.
