90 Day WA Challenge Report from Gail - Week 5

Hello you lovely WA peeps!

I can't believe I'm reporting on week 5 of this challenge already - where do the weeks go?!

I've been on holiday for the last week in lovely West Wales in the UK at Pendine Sands, where Sir Malcolm Campbell, was the first to use the 7 miles of flat beach there for a land speed record attempt. In 1924, he hit 146.16 mph in his Blue Bird car, and in 1925, he became the first person to exceed 150 mph there. Needless to say, I did about 1.5 mph just getting to the sea! But it was fun as I was holidaying with my cousin and her family and we had a lovely time.

That said, I have still been working on my challenge and my sites to keep the momentum going as much as I could. The next phase of the challenge is entitled "Build the Engine" by Jeremy (the founder of the challenge), and the targets are:

βœ… Weeks 5–8: Build the Engine (August)

  • Publish 3+ posts/week or batch content in spurts
  • Interlink older content and build β€œpillar pages”
  • Share posts into niche groups or forums
  • Start light keyword tracking (WA tools, Jaaxy, etc.)
  • Refresh your goal if needed

Focus: Shift from output to structure. Start seeing traffic.

And this is how I did on these new targets

  1. I did publish 3 posts on my site this week - 2 about the question "Why are we here?" and one about ghosts and spirits to vary the topics that I covered this week
  2. I managed to interlink 2 older posts into these posts (one about meditation and one about living in the now moment) which seemed to work well with these topics. Although I haven't labelled them as such, one post from last week and one post from this week will be 2 of my 15 'pillar' posts that I'm building alongside the topic of "Big questions" about life, the universe and everything.
  3. I have not as yet shared the posts into niche forums but I have started posting on FB into niche groups and that has increased my reach and views last week although the overall numbers are still small.
  4. I have started tracking my keywords through Jaaxy on these posts, however, I am still having indexing issues with this site so I'm still working on getting my posts indexed, let alone ranked.
  5. My goal last week was to research how to monetise my site through Shopify, but I have decided to postpone this goal for the moment in favour of focusing on some other SEO issues that have come up in my quest to get my posts indexed.
  6. In addition to the posts, I also published:
    1. 18 posts on Facebook/Instagram that I had previously scheduled
    2. 28 posts on Facebook/Instagram for my other 2 sites (previously scheduled)
    3. 1 x 2-minute video on YouTube based on my post about "Why are we here?"
    4. 1 x weekly newsletter
  7. I did 3 small chapters of my "100 Days of Wisdom book", which I'm very pleased about, as this was one of the things I said I'd restart from the recent challenge from Kyle.

My thoughts on the week

I'm quite pleased with my work this week because I feel I managed to keep the momentum going even though I was on holiday. I didn't quite get around to diversifying my content into niche groups and forums as much as I would have liked. I need to focus on that going forward a bit more.

I also only had time for one video this week, but again, at least it was something. I'd like to have a go at a longer video (8+ minutes) this coming week but I'll see how I go because all my videos are currently done with text over video rather than an onscreen presenter.

So all in all, a quiet week but one I feel still moved me forward although I'm not going to rival any land speed record anytime soon!

Goal for next week

This coming week I am going to focus on all the SEO things for the site that I think are causing issues for indexing. I have a list from Bing Web Master Tools and some from Google Search Console to go through in the attempt to get more than 1 of my posts indexed by either site! I'm also going to diversify the places when I publish content to try to drive traffic to the site that way.

Wish me luck!

It's been a week of sea and sand for me - wishing you all a lovely week ahead, wherever you are

All the best, Gail

Even on holiday you are providing quality Gail!!!

Why Wales though my friend???

Only joking.... I couldn't think of about.... well... maybe a few other places I would rather be!!

Take care my friend and enjoy the rest of your stay there!!! :-))

πŸ‘πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š

Haha - yes, why Wales indeed?! Actually, I was offered a 'free' holiday by my cousin, which just happened to be in Wales although I've been there a few times and it's lovely. And since my mum's name was Jones, I figure I'm probably a little bit Welsh myself!

4

'Free' is the only word that matters Gail!!

I love Wales, but.... haven't been there for a long time though!!!

Enjoy yourself my friend!:-))

3

Well time you went back, then. I also love Wales too, and we were there 4 years ago when I took my mum to Saundersfoot, Tenby and St Davids. We like going around the UK and there are so many interesting places here and throughout the world - just wish there were more lifetimes to discover them... oh, hang on a minute - I know there are!! :)

4

I'll get back there one day Gail...

The only time I get to the UK these days is to visit the folks down in Devon... not much time to see anywhere else again... until I retire in a couple of years that is!!!

2

And then you'll have all the time in the world!

2

Absolutely my friend! :-)

Hey Gail,

I didn't know you're into fast cars and manly stuff. πŸ˜ƒ We can chat for hours about that then. Well done on your accomplishments! Are you using miles in the UK? I thought you use the metric system mostly.

1

Hi Hein. Haha - it depends what you call 'manly' stuff although I think you're on a pretty sticky wicket nowadays labelling things as such!! πŸ˜‰ I'm not particularly into cars although I do like the grand prixs but I AM into power tools - give me a circular saw over a cook book any day! Hope you're well.

2

Hey Gail,

Haha, okay. Circular saws are too noisy and dangerous; I prefer a jigsaw. Had a top-notch Makita, but I was dumb to sell it a few years back. I may get one again soon.

I am doing fantastic, thanks. I hope you're having a great, prosperous, and productive week!

1

Hi Hein. Power tools have been on my Christmas list for the last few years but they came in very handy when I knocked a wall down in my house! Too much viewing of "Escape the the Chateau" I feel.
I am having a great week, actually, thanks. Getting to grips with the WA templates and testing a few things to get the articles as close to how I would write them as possible and it's working so far.
Also having to do all the holiday washing and try to rescue my poor pot plants too. Oh for a gardener and a housekeeper, but where would be the fun in that!!! πŸ™ƒπŸ˜œ

2

Hope you enjoyed your holiday. Was thinking of you.

And I think you are the most diligent of all of us reporting back on your week.
And congratulations on all you have achieved. Thanks for the newsletter!

2

Thanks, Isabella for your kind words and I'm glad you are still enjoying the newsletter. You are one of 6, and one of those is me!! Haha!
I blame my work ethic on my dad who made us get up and go to school at all costs and drove us to do something constructive everyday. Too bad he couldn't take his own advice, but hey ho! That's the way the cookie crumbles!
Hope you are well.

2

You're an inspiration to us all! I've updated my progress as well on the original post! I feel things are JUST GETTING GOING! Time to "Bring the RAIN!"

3

Haha - I've got an umbrella! Thanks for your kind comments, Jeremy. I'll check out your update too. All the best. Gail
