Challenge Yourself Everyday!

Are you challenging yourself every day?
This is a little different than putting in long hours working hard, especially if you find yourself doing the same thing repeatedly. It's easy to become comfortable with what you are good at, no matter how difficult it might be for someone else.
Find healthy challenges in life that take your mind and body into new territory. I try to spend at least one hour a day doing something I'm totally unfamiliar with.
These days I'm studying the design and construction of 5-string sixteenth-century baroque guitars and how they influenced the playing technique of Lex Eisenhardt. The tools and techniques for building such an instrument are practically non-existent, which makes it all the more interesting!
Choose something you have never done before or have very little experience with and plan to master it. Here are some examples of things you can do.
1. Play an instrument or sing
2. Draw, paint, or sculpt
3. Speak a new language
4. Play a new sport
5. Invent something or improve a currently existing technology
Constantly challenging yourself improves your ability to focus and innovate on routine tasks and take them to the next level. I'm always trying to build a better version of myself, a Frank 2.0.

Hi Frank, I couldn't agree more! I try to learn new things as much as possible as long as I am not stuck trying to fix some horrible thing on my site. I am enrolled in a Skillcrush class and want to learn javascript and more about web development. Even though I was in IT and a programmer, I never worked on websites, mostly databases. But this is new to me so I just need to move faster on it. I also take classes at WA to learn new ways of doing things. I have taken some really great classes by Tim McKinlay and Jay that is really helpful!
I am working on it though not as fast as I would like.

Interesting thanks for sharing. One thing that I challenging myself to do for the past 2 days is sitting down with my girls to do learning together, it's has always been difficult for me as a result they spent most of the time playing games on their ipad or tablet. But for the past 2days I have be consistent and we are having quality time together. Figures crossed to continue with it.
