My new niche website
This morning I began working on a new website, this time choosing the Sat Nav niche - specifically TomTom brand devices. This is a big niche and I expect some tough competition, but hey ho..
A couple of days ago I was lucky enough to pick up what I think is a great domain for this niche, so I couldn't wait to get started.
The main structure of the site is in place, obviously a lot more content still to be added as I write it over the coming weeks.
The domain has been registered a couple of times in the past, 2007 - 2011ish and there are still a few links coming into it. What is strange is that even the content I wrote today seems to be getting indexed in google already.. I expected a few days wait at least!
Ill be going back through all the training lessons just to make sure I haven't forgotton to do anything.
Any feedback so far much appreciated, remember it is only day one though so still lots to do. A couple of things I am aware of is the navigation needs some work, and more pictures in my posts. There aren't any product reviews on there yet either which will be the main bulk of the content eventually.
Post Update: 17 September 2013: URL now removed from this post. I've started to add more affiliate links so I don't want to get into trouble for self-promotion in WA. Thanks to all who responded, it is most appreciated..
Regards, Paul

Love it! Very professional. Gonna put my brother in law on to you. Im not a technical person. But hes looking for one of these. Good luck!
Thanks for your comments, I would be interested to hear what your brother in law thinks as a consumer - great stuff, thanks
Thanks for sharing this. I have a niche website concept in my mind for a different industry and looking at your website helped me to visualize how I can make this particular niche work for me. Thanks so much!
Hi Paul
Well done. Regardless of the smart phone, I still think there is a market for these--I know I wouldn't be without mine. Keep those sites and info coming.
Excellent name!! What a jewel of a pick up! I like the look of your website too. Very professional! Keep up the good work!
Yes it does look a bit basic but early days as you say, the header could maybe do with a little more colour.
My main concern is with the advent of smartphones - almost all but the very cheapest now have built-in GPS and free sat nav apps are widely available - I feel that this is a diminishing market.
With that in mind the other big no-no for me is that you are concentrating on one brand and as such you are going to miss out on those people who don't favour TomTom, perhaps preferring Garmin, Acer, Becker etc. Garmin probably now outsell TomTom so you have instantly deprived yourself of a share of sales of the most popular brand.
I can understand starting with one brand and expanding from there but using that brand name as part of the URL isn't doing you any favours if you want to expand later. Personally I would be looking for something like www.satnavdeals.com
Just my opinion.
This might be worth a look too.

Thanks very much for the comments, and I pretty much agree with everything you said. I do however think there should still be some traffic opportunities here, looking at Jaaxy the keywords I'm targeting are getting searched enough, and have low levels of competition so I'm hopeful to make some conversions. It's all a learning experience, Ill spend a couple of weeks building content, then make time for one or two articles per week after that - nothing ventured nothing gained!
Thanks for the sellfire link, Ill definitely look closer at that.

Paul
