Getting ranked in Google already!
I joined the site only about two weeks ago and I'm already getting pages ranked in Google!
I'm sure we all remember when our sites were brand new. We'd spent a lot of time on the training and carefully setting up our site and writing lots of great content. There was one thing missing - no traffic and no ranking!
Using the techniques here at WA a couple of my reviews are already in the first two pages of Google which I'm incredibly excited about!
My brand new review for the scam site Job4Living.com is the first result on the second page of 'job4living.com scam'. Even more exciting is that my review for Google Sniper is on the first page for 'Google Sniper Review 2016'!
Yes, I know it's still really 2015 but I think it's a good idea to get ahead of the crowd!
I've started to see bits of traffic on Google Analytics (though I don't know how much of that is me viewing my site!) so things are starting too look great!

Hello when you want to avoid your own traffic in the statistics, cause it can give wrong info, certainly when you do not have a lot of visitors...
There for you have to set an IP Filter in GA, more info here: http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/best-ways-to-exclude-internal-traffic-in-google-analytics/
Grtz,
Bert
Thanks for the tip Bert! I've now excluded my IP.
Always learning something new here at WA :)
That's the goal, a day that you did not learn something, is probably a day you did not login at WA... ;-)
Grtz,
Bert
This is great progress - is this still the same if you view your search using a chrome incognito window. This ignores all your cached pages and gives a true view of your search results
Thanks for the tip! I checked and yes they are still getting ranked the same position thankfully. I'll remember this from now on!

This is one technique that I have seen very people use, but one that works very well not just in terms of people looking for "top PRODUCT in 2016" type searches, but also within reviews and your ability to make them feel very current.
If I am looking up a product review and I see 2016 in it and it is 2016, I will instantly connect with that relevance. The only issue that can result from this is the longevity of your rankings in particular if the product is not a time sensitive one.
Come 2017 this might be dated compared to more of a generalized title that is not date specific. Something to consider if you are getting gangbuster rankings and heading into late 2016. You still have some time for that though!
Hi Kyle. Thanks for the feedback. Like you say, having the correct year can make a massive difference. If I look at a review and see it's from 2 or 3 years ago I'll probably not bother with it and look for something newer. This time next year I'll rewrite some of my reviews to bring them up to date again.
