You said poetry?

A small insight in my niche.

Three poetry posts appeared in my feed within five minutes.

The first was a four-line breakup poem with 200,000 likes.
The second was a sonnet that had taken its author months to write. It had 47.
The third wasn't even really a poem. It was a sentence broken into six lines:

"One day
you'll stop
watering people
who only grew
when it rained."

That one had almost a million likes.

I didn't think much of it at first.
Social media has always rewarded simplicity.

But later that evening I found myself reading a poem by Mary Oliver that had somehow resurfaced online.
No dramatic typography. No minimalist aesthetic. No motivational punchline.
Just a quiet observation about paying attention to the world.

And that was the poem I kept thinking about the next day.

The viral poem gave me an emotion.
The older poem gave me a place to return to.

That difference started bothering me.

Not because one was "real poetry" and the other wasn't.
That's a debate people have been losing sleep over for decades.

What interested me was something stranger.

Why do some poems feel instantly shareable but strangely forgettable,
while others seem almost resistant to attention and yet stay alive in your head for years?
