The AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) Gate

"For years we were building the path.
Now, for the first time, it feels as though we've reached a gate.
It isn't closed.
It isn't fully open.
And perhaps the most interesting question isn't what lies beyond it...
but how we choose to walk through it together."

AGI fits perfectly into the evolution of Wonderland because it raises questions rather than providing answers.

In fact, I'd avoid writing: "AGI is coming."
Instead, I'd ask: "Why has everyone suddenly started talking about AGI?"
That keeps the Wonderland spirit.

The News Tree?

Just headlines...

More companies are openly discussing AGI.
Benchmarks are becoming less useful.
AI agents are becoming more capable.
Governments are paying attention.
Safety discussions are accelerating.

The Mirror

Perhaps the most interesting question isn't: "When will AGI arrive?"
But: "How will we know?"

There may not be a single "Eureka!" moment.

Perhaps AGI won't arrive like electricity being switched on.
Perhaps it will emerge gradually, almost unnoticed.

One day we'll simply realize...
"This system can now do things we once thought only humans could."

Beyond the Mirror

Then comes the bigger question.

Suppose AGI does emerge.
Will the greatest challenge be building it?

Or...

Will it be learning how to live with it?

History suggests that our greatest technological challenges have rarely been technical. They've been social.
Printing. Electricity. The Internet.

Each transformed society more than the technology itself.
Perhaps AGI will be no different.

🐇 Fleeky's Rabbit Hole

This week I found myself wondering...

We spend a lot of time asking:When will AI become generally intelligent?
Perhaps the more interesting question is: Are humans becoming generally prepared?

Technology can advance rapidly.
Wisdom usually takes longer.

Maybe the real race isn't between AI companies.
Maybe it's between capability and responsibility.

And the illustration...

I already see it.
The rabbit reaches the end of the familiar Wonderland path.

Ahead stands a large, beautifully carved gate.
Above it hangs a simple sign:

AGI

The gate is slightly open.

Behind it...
No robots. No explosions. No glowing brains.
Just a misty landscape.

Nobody can quite see what's beyond.

Around the gate stand curious travelers: the scientist, the philosopher, the engineer, the artist, the child, the policymaker...

No one steps through.
Everyone is quietly looking.

Because the mystery isn't what's behind the gate.
The mystery is whether we're ready to walk through it together.

Not because it answers the AGI question...but because it captures exactly where the world feels today:
Standing at a gate. Looking through the opening. Wondering what comes next. 🌺🏆

And for me?
Looking at the image... It's almost an icon for the next phase of AI.

What I love most is that nobody is walking through the gate.
Everyone is simply...looking... even the rabbit.

That captures the moment we're living in remarkably well.

Nobody truly knows what lies beyond.
And perhaps the child standing there is my favorite detail.
Because every generation eventually inherits the world the previous one builds...
