My Visit To The Redwoods
When I took my California trip, I promised you a photo collection from our trip through the redwood forest and the Avenue of the Giants. Then my camera quit talking to my computer. I just recently got a little card reader, sent by my clever son, that allows me to get those pictures off the camera. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
I hate to make the pictures too small, as you don't get the size perspective. Here is a closeup of the base of one trunk. They are so enormous. They are truly magnificent.
Here is a picture of Patte, and another picture of someone emerging from a trail back into the woods. (Patte is second one; during editing they got reversed.)
When you walk among these trees, you can feel their presence. Their calming spirit seems to be a protective force. There is a feeling of peace, almost a reverence. It makes me understand why some people feel like being in trees is like being in church. Here is one last shot of these tall, tall, beautiful creations of nature.

Brings back memories of my visit to the area twenty years ago when I took my family on a cross country tour of North America. Did you have a chance to visit the General Sherman's tree or drive through the tunnel carved through the tree trunk?
We ran out of time and daylight, since I kept getting out and taking pictures. I'd seen it before. Wanted to get a picture for on here, but unfortunately, didn't get there.
I was born grew up in the Bay Area and my family and I used to drive up north often.
Have been back since with Philip and he was mesmerized by these giants (he is from the UK).
Such peace and beauty. Magical.
Thanks for sharing, Fran. Brought back some wonderful memories.

Oh, glad you enjoyed it. They are so marvelous...I could have spent a lot more time there. Glad we got to visit.
I can feel the calming, peaceful nature of these ancient Redwood trees through your photos.
Thanks for sharing your pictures. I visited the Redwood on a road trip with our kids about 20years ago. They are still as stunning and magnificent today as they were then!
Wow!!!! Those trees are huge. I've never been to the Redwood Forest. I need to add that to my bucket list.
I am glad that you were able to get your pictures onto your blog. I enjoyed seeing them.
