Find a Brand New Solution

I have been thinking about the whole concept of the new year's resolution, and how I might apply this idea to my WA business.

First, I looked at the word. As you can see, "resolution" is made up of two parts: "re" and "solution." Looking at the word in this way, it is easy for me to see how the concept could help us to move forward.

If we have problems with some facets of our business that have not been settled to our satisfaction, we can re-look at them and come up with a new solution. After all, we can't expect our results to change if we are doing everything in the same old way

You might make a list of your problem areas. What needs changing? Investigate all the possible changes you could make and find one (or maybe more than one) that might solve your problem.

For example, in my own business, I know where my weakness lies. I need to find a way to bring more traffic to my website. So, I will look at as many ways as I can find to increase my traffic. Then I will pick the most promising methods and see if I can use those methods to re-solve the traffic problem.

Next, I looked up the definition of "resolution." I found four different meanings listed:

1) A firm decision to do or not to do something.

2) The quality of being determined or resolute.

3) The action of solving a problem, dispute, or contentious matter.

4) The process of reducing or separating something into its components.

Let's look at each one separately and apply to our business:

1) A firm decision to do or not to do something. This one is easy to apply to WA. We can do the work and move forward, or we can not do the work and stand in place. If we are serious about moving the business forward, we will of course make the decision to try our best to do so.

Maybe there is one particular aspect of the business that is troubling you. It may take a firm decision to unstick our selves from the mire of murky manifestation. An example: I worked for about three weeks to get my site GDPR compliant. The GDPR plugin was no problem, but for my contact page, I wanted to use the Hello Bar.

Again, the plugin was no problem, but getting the whole thing properly set up to do what I wanted gave me days of frustration. However, I finally re-solved the problem. Not only was I able to get the Hello Bar set up as I wanted, but was able to replace the image on there with one that targeted my niche. Whew! Deep sigh of relief.

If I had not bulldogged that problem into compliance, I would still have to deal with it down the road. Now I can move on to another roadblock.

2) The quality of being determined or resolute. Are you determined to make your business successful? Are you resolute in your commitment to your goals? Have you decided you will not quit, no matter what? Then you have the quality you need.

3) The action of solving a problem, dispute, or contentious matter. If you can follow problems to their resolution, you can keep moving forward toward your goals.

The solution may be simple or it may be more complex. Ask advice, read tutorials, or try different approaches until you find what you need to reach resolution.

4) The process of reducing or separating something into its components. When your whole business is based on the necessity of moving forward, you may find it very helpful to look at a problem you are facing, take it apart, and look at all the aspects of it. You can learn one piece at a time until you understand the whole sufficiently to get it all back together and make it work.

An example: I recently helped a young woman who was totally baffled as to how to place Amazon affiliate links on her site. We went through the process together, one small step at a time. When she was able to get the whole thing to come together, I am not sure which of us was more pleased.

It was the process of taking the entire activity apart and doing one small step at a time that helped us reach a solution. When you are learning a new concept in WA and can't figure the whole thing out, take it apart and re-solve the issue. Then you will reach resolution.

When in doubt, look through the tutorials. There are many there that may give you the answers that you need.

The word "resolution" has far-reaching significance for our WA business. Use your understanding of this word to overcome your obstacles and to keep moving forward.

Resolve to use resolution to your advantage in the new year to re-solve all your problems. My best wishes to all of you for a successful and satisfying 2019.

Thanks, Tommy. I think one of the strengths of these posts is that many times there are numerous answers to the same question. What resonates with one person may not with another, so the more different ways the problem can be addressed the more chance that we will all find the solution we seek.

Thanks for sharing this gem! I can relate big time. Know what to do now. Cheers AJ
