Are You Damaging Your Health?

The damage you do to yourself by overworking can be devastating for you and your family. We all need to learn to listen to our bodies and do what they tell us.

Our body has many ways of telling us things are not well. One of the most obvious is tiredness. If you are feeling bodily tired then stop and rest. If you don't then expect to face some consequences. The consequences can range from a simple illness that you write off and can go through to a full scale metal breakdown.

As we are all working for ourselves now when we are not working we are not making any money. Yes I know you may have a residual income, but it is no good resting on your laurels expecting that income to last forever.

Once the income starts to subside, so you start to worry more, and then work less because the worry is getting you down. And so the circle of worry and depression sets in. Stop it now. Do something to break that circle while you can.

Sometimes it creeps up on you without warning as it did to me in the mid 1970s. By the time I had realized what was going on I was already in the circle was well and truly formed.

I was living in a time when in the UK at least the mental problems were not fully recognized unless you had a certifiable problem that was easy to recognize. Panic attacks were a new phenomenon and did not appear to be understood by much of the medical profession.

The symptoms were treated but not the cause. Nowadays these things are recognized as a medical condition and are treated as such, but I implore you to act before it gets that bad.

Are you tired? Do you feel lightheaded? Are you not eating as normal. These can all lead to mental problems as well as other medical problems. If you are getting short tempered along with these symptoms then take a good look at what you are doing to your body.

Yes when you are younger you can work harder or smarter for more hours than you can do as you get older. Please look after your health whether it is medical or mental.

I know a lot of us are doing much reading, listening or watching videos to get more information about our niche and of course this is along with all the WA training you are doing.

WA and the knowledge it imparts is not a race. You can take your time and get the same or, in some cases, better results.

Look after your health to look after your wealth

Thank you Derek

Good post.

It is so important to:
" Look after your health to look after your wealth"

In these times of COVID, many people are suffering mental issues due to loss of employment & financial problems.

Your body is a wonderful machine that needs to be in good working condition to take care of daily activities.
It has the mechanism to make you rest when it is needed, so don't fight it. Take it easy.

Denis

Thank you Denis. We all need to take care.

I really like what you wrote, and it is so true, I am behind on training because other things in my life were taking me over. I am so tired. But today I told myself that I need to work on me. So I am trying to caught up and ready for a new way of life. Thank you so much!!!

Don't worry about Training. We have priorities in life, some easy to solve, some difficult to that. Do the best at your own pace and try to finish in three to six moths.

You're welcome Kathy. We all have to take some 'me' time occasionally. Sometimes I just wont give in but that means a longer break later.

Hi Derek,

This is a truly outstanding post!

It’s always important that we make time for ourselves, family, & friends between all the hard work we do. It’s such an integral part of our physical and mental well being!

I guess I’m the guy in your picture with the cowboy hat. I make 2 or 3 hours every morning to play music and it starts my day with a smile. I also spend lots of time with my wife, especially on weekends when I am not on call. Between all that I really work my butt off like many of the good people here at WA do.

Let’s all try our best to stay happy and healthy! 🙂

Frank

We must all try to stay healthy Frank.
