GeniusLink Quick Update: Is It Worth?
Hello WAers,
A few months ago, I've posted a quick review of GeniusLink here:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/fiftarina/blog/are...
At that post, I mentioned that I've since gained a small commission from local Amazon websites, a little bit more than enough to cover the monthly fee of GeniusLink itself.
Now, it's been 6 months since I use GeniusLink, and I'm happy to report that I've received my very first paycheck from Amazon.ca and Amazon.co.uk, wohooo...
Now, let's do a little math, shall we?
I've been using Genius Link for 6 months, with monthly fee of $10, so total cost is USD 60.
And for the result, I've earned 2 paychecks, around 130 each.
So total earning = CAD 130 + GBP 130 ~ USD 253.
That means a nett income of USD 193 in 6 months (or ~USD64 in a month).
Of course, it is smaller than the Amazon.com commission, but those little things can add up to make a big difference, right.
The good news is, the local Amazon earning still keeps increasing over time, and hence, I'll be expecting a higher paycheck in months to come.
Now, back to the main question.
Is GeniusLink worth it?
The answer is a definite yes.
If you have budget, I highly recommend you to try it.
"Don't be afraid to try new things. They are not all going to work. But when you find the one that does, you will be so proud of yourself for trying."
Cheers,
Rina

Thanks for this article Rina, and the previous one about GeniusLink. I've been researching a lot about localising Amazon links as I'm in the UK and don't want to miss out on potential US sales. So reading about your experience was most helpful.
Good luck with your online adventure!
Lisa
i started using Geni.us a month or so back and really like it. One thing I did use it for was that a product I was linking to on the US amazon site was not available under the same name on the UK site (even though same product). I therefore could set up a custom link in geni.us and said that if the person was US based take them to one product and if in the UK take them to the other name.
I often state as well that the link is amazon
I am thinking of making more custom links to work with other affiliates
Oh wow, I didn't realize this was the case. Do you need a paid account to make custom links?
Can you elaborate more on this? You mean you enter both the link to US Amazon and UK Amazon, and create a special link name for it?
I keep meaning to make a video on using geni.us (but too much to do at the moment).
Okay say on the US site for Amazon you have a product called
ProductA but on the UK site the same product is actually called ProductAb so geni.us doesnt find it to redirect your traffic.
If you go to Links on your Dashboard then New.
Paste in the URL for the US productA which you have got from Amazon
Geni.us tells you what the product is but then click
Advanced Targetting.
Place the alternate link for ProductAb in the URL area and then you can click the If button. Here you can choose the Country or operating system. Just choose Country and type in UK.
Now click Save and you will have a geni.us link to use on your website which will send people in the US to product A but the UK people will go to Product Ab. Hopefully the screenshot will show this
I just had a thought. I keep hearing that Amazon does not allow link shorteners or masking of any kind (other than their own shortener). I assume they are fine with the geni.us link appearing when one hovers over a link on our sites?
The end of the link still shows the amzn portion, but there is lots of other stuff at the front.
That's great!!!
I was looking into it earlier today and I decided not to get it. I think it's more for stores of if you have Amazon picture things, right? See I only have a link in a post or added to a picture. Don't know if it'll work the same way for me.
Well done!
Liz,
I use mostly text links in my articles. I don't have an a-store. I am a member of Amazon.com and Amazon.ca. The plugin (and my geni.us account) direct people to their respective countries. So if someone from the US or Canada clicks on a link and buys I will get the commission.
Hi Liz, I am in the same boat as Tanja. My links are mostly text-based, not the Amazon store styles.
Ok so it's ok for text links and no store type links. Well that's good! But it's paid for? I have downlaod a different plugin that does the same but it's free...going to check it out and see how it works. If it's no good, then I know this is a good backup plan ;-)
Thanks
I'm still using the free version. I don't even know what you get with the paid version. Can you tell me what the difference is please?
Hi Tanja, are you using just Amazon Link Engine plugin or have you signed up for GeniusLink account?
Have you gotten any international comission yet?
If you are just using the plugin, Here's a note from the plugin directory:
The Amazon Link Engine WordPress plugin is completely free to use and will always globalize your links for you. However, in order to earn international affiliate commissions and take advantage of the in-depth reporting, you must have a Geniuslink account. By default, Geniuslink’s Associates IDs will be used until you have connected your account and added your own via the Geniuslink Dashboard.
If you are already use GeniusLink account and is on free account, I bet that means your account is still on the old pricing plan, whereby they offer up to 1000 Amazon clicks per month for free. Mine exceeds 1000 clicks per month and that's why they start charging a fee for that.
Yes, I have the account and plugin. I got 700 clicks last month so I guess I need to keep an eye on it as I may get to the 1000 free clicks soon.
So for people just using the plugin (without an account) do they not get commissions if they are associates with various amazon programs (countries). What would be the point of the plugin then?
