What to Read this Summer
Summer again...
This is the perfect time to read. A book in your hand during the travel on a train, plane, beach or under the moon light.
When we're on holiday we can choose to read different genres of literature. Simple stories without much literary symbolism and philosophical currents, others choose to use the holiday relaxation to read classical's works, which continue to have a valid message even today. There are those who link the book with the place where they will rest.
Important is to find inspiration in each book, to recharge batteries with new powers which will help to get back to everyday life with enthusiasm.
Here is the list of books l recommend for this summer:
1. The Color Purple by Alice Walker - winner of The Pulitzer Prize & The National Book Award. This book links in a complicated mosaic, events of women united by love, of men who mistreat them, and children they care for. The book is a echo for topics like racism, poverty, sexism and love.
2. The mambo kings play songs of love by Oscar Hijuelos - winner of The Pulitzer Prize and a bestseller. The book as described by Michiko Kakutani is a rich and provocative book, a moving portrati of a man, his family, a community and a time. Summer is a perfect time to read the book.
3. In the darkroom by Susan Faludi - winner of the Kirkus Prize for non fiction. At age 76, Steven the father of the author shocked her with the revelation that he had undergone sex reassignment surgeries and now is Stefánie.
The book is about the identity in a modern world, the trans-gender movement, and father-daughter relationships.

Good afternoon Fifi,
Before I got a computer end 2013 I used to read a lot. When I was small my dear Mother read many books to me and I continued when I had mastered that art. I must confess that this computer takes up a lot of my time so I have not been reading much lately.
Thank you for the list, it looks interesting.
