Knowledge Is Power! France is Bacon
Francis Bacon is the person who said it. The statement is used worldwide to this day. The statement itself is used in a context to affirm the fact that one of the most powerful tools a person can have at their disposal, is knowledge.

I don't know if it's used in a particular context (I haven't seen it mentioned since that original comment that I saw long ago). It's possible people just thought the phrase was funny-sounding.
But the original comment is just attributing the quote "Knowledge is power." to the renowned philosopher Francis Bacon.
Who was Francis Bacon? Seems like the guy actually applied his knowledge.
And that my fellow entrepreneurs is the key to being successful at Wealthy Affiliate.

Let's have some fun with this concept.
One of the best comedic actress ever and my all-time favorite was Madeline Kahn.
Madeline Kahn quote: If there's one thing I've learned, it's learning things never taught me nuthin'. And books is the worst.
That quote was from Kahn's portrayal of YellowBeard's wife Betty, in one of the funniest movies ever, "Yellowbeard".
And couple of other funnies from the movie:
Betty : When little Dan was two minutes old I tattooed the treasure map on his head.
Yellowbeard : Does he know about this?
Betty : Oh, no no no, that's why I kept him in the cupboard for three years. That may be why he's a bit odd with all these books, and reading, and stuff like that.

Reading and learning is FUNdemental. Actually a program when I was growing up in elementary school was the RIF (Reading is Fundemental) program.
Back to Mr. Bacon who coined the above quote.
Francis Bacon was the father of the scientific method and was also the legal counsel for Queen Elizabeth I. He is credited for being the father of empiricism also.
Being in this affiliate marketing niche means we will never be able to stop learning. We will never learn everything there is to know about making money online. MMO is one of the most dynamic fields that exists. Nothing static about it.
So don't be a Betty. Learn as much as you can from books, tutorials, blogs, videos, other members of WA, and all the other resources available to us here at WA. Be a sponge and soak it all in.
My take on the "Knowledge is Power" quote?
Francis Bacon was full of bologna.
The real power is in the APPLICATION of knowledge.
If we do not take action with what we learn here at WA then we might as well go around painting treasure maps on children's heads.
So take action with the knowledge you have learned. Do not be afraid of making mistakes. Learn from them and move on. Achievement seems to be connected to taking action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they never quit.

A successful company had a machine that churned out 200,000 of its widgets every week when suddenly it broke down, causing the company to start losing lots of money. They desperately searched far and wide, and were finally able to locate an elderly gentleman who said he could fix the machine. When he arrived, and the business owners anxiously watched, he looked at the machine, walked around it one or twice, scratched his chin again before turning around and producing a small hammer from his satchel. Thanks, it's a story I was told by the Locksmith I apprenticed under explaining how knowledge is what one pays for when they hire a service tech--but it could just as easily apply to experience as well!

I remember the South Park episode where the internet went down and Stan's dad moved the family out west. He heard there was internet out there.
After all the panic, Stan walked around to the back of this huge machine looking contraption that was supposed to be the internet.
It was unplugged.
Too funny, but also sad, because I feel that is quickly evolving into the painful reality out there among the younger set!
