Sometimes the best way to figure out what your audience wants to read is to ask them point-blank. Most of your readers will be honest, and happily share any topics they’d like to see in the future.

When writing blog posts the objective is for people to read them so they can be shared building your brand, traffic, and credibility
. If readers like your blog, there’s a high chance they’ll want to share it. Sorry to break to you, but your readers probably will judge your content by the cover.

If you want readers to stick around, you need to get to the point. Ask questions – one of the simplest ways to draw your readers in is to ask them a question within your introduction.

If you want readers to love you and look forward to every post you write, you’ll over-deliver. It’s a copywriting technique proven to pull readers in. You’ll need to offer useful information to hook in and keep your readers on-board with your content.

The biggest goal of your blog will be to answer the questions and solve the problems of potential readers. If you really want readers to click, then you have to sound like a real person.

When you’re passionate about a topic, it’s easy to let that fervor shine through your content and have readers empathize with it. The really bad news about your content is that your readers have a lot more going on than just reading what you have to say.

One of the most basic ways to keep your reader's attention is to simply ensure that each sentence you write compels your readers to move on to the next.

If you want to captivate instead of boring your audience, you must make readers feel like you’re reading their minds. If the post only delivers part of the solution, readers will feel misled and lose their trust in you.

Trust comes from creating honest, consistent work, and responding to readers respectfully and honestly. Littering your content with rhetorical questions can lead to frustrated readers who may feel like they’re under interrogation or aren’t getting the answers they want.

Content overload is real and as content marketers, it’s our job to ensure our content is built with our readers in mind.

If you want readers to feel like they’re being talked “to” instead of talked “at” the best way to talk to someone is to … well, talk to them like you would face to face.

A fundamental principle of content marketing is that you must keep your readers engaged. The higher quality blogs you can create, the more likely that readers will appreciate what you are doing and come to rely on you for good content.

But whether you blog once a week or every day, you do need to maintain some consistency to keep readers around. The more erratic your schedule, the bigger the risk, readers will forget about your blog or become frustrated and go somewhere else.

You have powerful words and ideas that can transform readers’ lives. Make readers feel like you’re on their side and dedicated to their success. The more you can hone in on your readers’ point of view, the more you can motivate them to take action.

Let’s face it, readers today are info-holics. Readers need to immediately see value in your content. Your readers want answers to questions and they want information. Make it easy for your readers to find the takeaways and find the tips.

Well, I hope my content is being read. I still need to get more people to the site, and hopefully they will stick around.

Do you think a subscriber list helps? My email list is not all that big yet, but have been working on adding new names this week. So far, about half of the people who receive it open it, and of those, over half are clicking.

Will continue to work on it.

Fran, at least you got some names. I need to get some more people. A subscriber's list is a good idea.

Excellent post, Eugene. I especially related to the point of keeping readers around by getting to the point. I know when I am reading a website and I either can't find the info I'm looking for, or bored reading a rambling post, I just go on to someone else's website. Thanks for the reminder.

You're welcome Carol

Thanks.

Thanks Eugene! You touched on all the strategies that will keep your audience riveted on your post.

You're welcome Dada

The art of copywriting is something we all need to master.

Alex

Writing is an art in itself, and yes we need to master it. Thanks Alex
