Let's Try It One More Time

Hi, WAers,

After much thought and consideration, I decided to open a second website. My other website hasn't been too successful in the 8 months I've been working on it. I want to believe it's due to the nature of my niche, which is dead these days.

Anyway, I opened another site last week, and it was a lot of work lol! I'd forgotten all we had to go through from purchasing a domain (the one I wanted was taken ugh) to selecting a theme to setting up the disclosure pages, etc. I didn't remember how to set up Google Analytics and Google Search Console, so I had to review that. I just opened my Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest accounts, so I'm good to go.

Today I just published my first post, and now I have to come up with a list of topics for the upcoming weeks.

I'm excited and scared at the same time I must confess. I don't know what to do with my first site. I don't know if I should put it on hold or continue adding content to it. Managing two sites will be a challenge, especially once I go back to work full time.

This will probably be my last try. Wish me luck!

Good Morning Enrique,

As I did not know what I was doing, I started with having 2 sites. I thought that all I wanted to write about would not fit on one. I now know it might not have been the best decision and both my niches are gigantic, but I love my sites and will continue.
I am battling with speed that went down the drain for both sites, so never a dull moment.
I wish you luck with your second website. As you know more now you will probably avoid some mistakes you made with your first site.

Stay safe and healthy,

Taetske

Hi, Taetske,

Currently, I have time to manage both sites, but I don't know how I'll do it once I go back to working full time.

I wanted to focus on my first site and not open another one until reaching my first year, but I had to change my plans.

I've been monitoring other travel bloggers to see what they are doing. They either took a break or just post things related to the pandemic. I've done this myself a few times, but there's not much I can do for the moment. I hope travel picks up soon.

Thanks for commenting.

I would keep your old site somewhat active by consistently adding one post a week. Then put the rest of your attention on the new site.

You never know when the old one might kick in. So keep adding to it bit by bit.

I wish you much success in your new venture.
Tracy

Hi, Tracy,

I think I will do that.

Thanks!

That is a good idea to start a new one but the last one also keep update, I think, you can be taken good level with the time. Anyway, Good Luck your future.
SAM

Hi, Sam,

I won't abandon my first site, but I think I have to focus on my most recent one.

Thanks.

I wish you all the best with your new site, Enrique.

Thank you, Lenka! :)

Congrats on your new sight! I hope all goes well with it. You didn't mention how much success you had with your first site but 8 months is not a long time. Kyle said in the training that it takes 6-12 months minimum to see any action. I've heard others say that it can take well over a year to see it become successful.

Having said that, I couldn't even imagine trying to run two sites! I've got my hands full with just one! The way I see it, you have a couple of options: Ask someone to help with your sites (you could pay them now or offer a percentage the profits when it become profitable), let someone take over your old site completely or just give it up. It all depends on whether you have any passion left for it.

Good luck and keep us posted!

All my best,

Cynthia

Hi, Cynthia,

Thank you! I hope so, too.

Yes, I remember Kyle saying that. I also understand it can take some time just like a brick-and-mortar business. I'm not expecting to become rich, but I haven't even broken even. What's worse, I haven't made a single sale in all this time. Zero. Zilch. Nothing.

When I read about others' success, it motivates me, but at the same time, it makes me wonder what am I doing wrong? I have been trying to follow the training, but it seems I'm either missing something or I've just been unlucky, I don't know.

I would have to look for someone to help me, but I don't think I can afford it right now. That's why I didn't go yearly. Money has been tight, and I have to stretch my money as much as I can.

Enrique
