The $10 million dollar check
One of my favourite martial artist, Bruce Lee once wrote a letter to himself dated January 1969.
He wrote, "By 1980 I will be the best known Oriental movie star in the United States and will have secured $10 million dollars."
The most interesting part of this letter, however, was the second part. Funny enough, this is the part often omitted when we sit down to set goals.
Lee goes on to write, "And in return I will give the very best acting I could possibly give every single time I am in front of the camera and I will live in peace and harmony."
Isn't it interesting that Bruce wrote he would have peace and harmony after he said what he would do to obtain his goal.
Movie star Jim Carrey set a goal to sign a movie deal for $10 million dollars. The problem was he was a stand up comic in Los Angeles. When he set the goal he hand wrote a check to himself for the sum of $10 million dollars which he carried around with him. His friends thought he was nuts.
He kept locked in his mind the goal, $10 million dollar movie deal. He kept moving up and finally signed a major motion picture deal, Dumb and Dumber. How much? You guessed right, $10 million dollars.
While it is important to focus on your destination, you must keep your eye on the map until you get there. Keeping your eye on the map-the process, is what champions are truly made of. Mohammed Ali said he hated every bit of training but had to endure it cos of the price-the world heavy weight champion.
In the attempt to reach the end result, it is the road map-The process, we should fall in love with
The process is what we will do to get our goal, which means developing a "prescription for success." You need to fall in love with the process of what your trying to accomplish.
This process includes preparation/ training, practice, discipline & dedication, great work ethic, positive mental attitude as well as other noble virtues that shape your character and winning attitude.
It all boils down to this one thing, winners must always think highly of themselves to become winners and to do this you have to visualise in your mind's eye being a winner so the picture becomes clearer and you believe deep down you will accomplish it, then you start working your road map- the process.
So remember write down your grand vision somewhere you can see it constantly and begin to work the process. How do you eat an Elephant? Bit by bit..
A champion isn't something you will become, rather it is something you already are. You just need to climb up the steps of the process to get there.
Love you all
See you at the top.

Great writing Emmanuel and fantastic motivational stories. I believe this wholeheartedly. We don't write checks in Switzerland we pay with giros at the post office or mostly people pay with e-banking but I think I will change the balance amount on my bank statement to reflect what I want. Thank you for reminding me what I have a tendency to forget.
Hello Eking. I believe in motivational coaching but I have my goal in my mind/thoughts all the time. I guess, you have to actually do what these successful people have done. Write it down to remind you all the time....actually I now think that you have to actually breath it to ensure you focus on that goal. I will try that. Thanks for the motivation.
I have a check posted above my computer made to me for $20,000,000 it stares at me every day an I keep a copy of it in my wallet
You can never succeed unless you expect to

So true! I noticed a lot of people focuss here on their first sale, but we have to think BIG, we are too programmed to think "in a very modest way". We have to BELIEVE we can do it. I have BIG dreams now and litterally spread out (part of) my earned money over my bed to see it "live" and dream of more......still the second part about living in harmony and peace is equally or even more important. Don´t stop dreaming about thát part too:)
