Mindset, Body and Money - The Three Pillars That Define Our Lives
I attended a Zoom coaching session on the topics above. The lessons taught were extremely relevant to creating an affiliate marketing business that I wanted to share what I learned with you.
The three pillars that need our attention to succeed in the order of importance listed are::
- Mindset
- Body
- Money
They all need to work in harmony in order to have a fighting chance to succeed.
Pillar #1 - Mindset
If you don't believe in yourself, nobody else will. We must have a belief that we have what it takes to succeed.Everything we do begins with a thought. From that point, it is our minds that channel these thoughts into action to create something of value.
We know what we have to do. If we don't know, we have the ability to learn. It is our minds that enable us to make decisions that create that first all-important pillar.
Pillar #2 - Our Bodies
When athletes prepare for competition, it is imperative they work on making sure their bodies are capable of peak performance. In business, it is also critical we focus on doing whatever it takes to stay healthy and fit. We must plan and follow a diet.
Diet is not only what we eat. It is also what we watch, how we spend our time, and how we act. It is imperative we are strong enough to keep to the schedule we create to build our business.
Pillar #3 - Money
Money should not be the end-all of our focus. Instead, we must focus on the process and not the outcome. We should not define happiness only about achieving things. It has to be about balance. For example, once we have adequate food, clothing, shelter, and transportation, what next? It is possible to have everything we need including money and still not be happy. Let me share the following analogy taught.
When we light our candle, the light produced will not be sufficient to see all around us. Especially the direction we need to take. Until we help others light their candle, our progress will be extremely limited.
When we go all out to make money ourselves, we limit what we can do. Like the candle, when we help others to earn money too or solve problems they have, there are no bounds to what we can achieve.
When we know better, we can do better.
What Is Our Purpose?
This is the question that we must ask ourselves before we embark on any venture in life. Especially a business venture.
Once we can define our purpose, which also can be defined as our desires, the next goal is to do the work to achieve that purpose.
Desires vs Goals
A paradigm shift was necessary to grasp this lesson. Existing thinking defines goals as what we want to achieve over time. This class turned this around to classifying this as our desire.Goals were defined as the actions we take. For example, the steps we must take to achieve our desires. Desires are only hopes and dreams. Without action, nothing is achieved.
The jury is out for this one. In some ways this reasoning made sense. It clashed with conventional thinking.
There are no guarantees. We can only believe that the harder we work, the better our chances are of achieving what we desire.
Linking Desires With Goals
Once we define what it is we desire in life, the next step is to work backward. Here is where we put down a series of goals that we have to accomplish in order to achieve what we desire.
Our goals should lie in each of the three pillars above. In this way our lives will be balanced that not only leads us to our goals, but also creates happiness when we get what we desire.
The Takeaway
Instead of calling these three pillars, think of these as three legs of a stool. If one leg is weak or missing, the stool will collapse. It is very important to structure our actions in each of these areas, mindset, body and money, so that we maintain balance in our lives.
Our lives are too important not to This may not be easy to do but the rewards are worth the effort.

Mindset is first and that's right where it should be. We have to see ourselves successful and thriving in order to continue to experience it.
Taking care of Our vehicle that we experience this life in ideas off utmost importance! So a great second pillar.

Hey, Edwin, good to see you, as usual.
I liked your post. Yep, it all starts with a thought. Our thoughts are things, as they can affect our very lives. It's important to be careful what we think about.
I like the concept of linking goals to action steps. It seems a much more positive and constructive way to think about them. Enough small steps will take you to your goal.
Good one, Edwin.
Hello Fran,
Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I know I need to take more action. I am only publishing on average one post every two weeks. I take too long to get my posts how I want them. I will have to create the templates that work for me and use those instead of just writing freeform.
Always great to hear from you.
