Wealthy Affiliate Is Holding Out On You.
Yeah I said it and what? The truth is the WA community is probably the best place to learn affiliate marketing and building a business around it. Obviously many of us have made some great money with affiliate marketing and why we're members and refer others to this great community.
That's all cool but I sort of feel like WA is holding out on you. There is a lot of focus on making money one way which is affiliate marketing.
But did you know all the skills that you're learning here can be applied in many ways and thus giving you multiple streams of income?
Let Me Count the Ways...
You've Learned SEO
Did you know you probably know more about SEO than most small businesses and could approach them to offer SEO services. This could be as simple as optimizing their pages with the proper keywords. Or you can offer to write a set number of SEO articles for them every month for a certain fee. You don't just have to use your SEO skills on your own site, you can sell them to other companies and in some cases make money faster. I made thousands of dollars per year doing this for many companies.
You've Learned How To Build A Site Using Wordpress
I remember back in the day when creating a website required a degree in rocket science. You had to mess around with html code and use website builders like dreamweaver, front page, xsitepro and a number of other tools that could have a painful learning curve. Now you just come to WA follow 4 steps and you have a website built. And we all know Wordpress is a beast because it allows us to easily change the design and add plugins that enhance a website. Well my friends there are a lot of people and companies that don't have websites. Or if they do it's crappy or not built on Wordpress. This is an opportunity for you to tell people that you can redesign their website which will be mobile and SEO friendly. And you'll be happy to add content regularly for them or show them how to do it themselves. Either way this an opportunity as well. I've literally made thousands of dollars building Wordpress sites for people which basically just involved installing a theme and adding their content.
You've Learned How To Promote Other People's Products
For years I was always hesitant to create my own product because I always thought it would be too much hassle or people wouldn't buy it, blah blah. I had a whole bunch of excuses. And this logic was so flawed because for all those years I sent thousands of leads and sales to other companies who were selling products. And it's been great and I've made a lot of money that way and still do.
But I finally had a duh moment. If all those people were willing to buy from strangers why wouldn't they buy from Eddy with a y who was actually referring folks to these companies. The reasons those people would convert is because people trusted my judgment. I was not in the business of misleading people. So logically they would buy directly for me. So that was an eye opener. Then I stumbled upon a video that addressed my other fear of needing to create something that was perfect or covered many aspects. My blog content wasn't perfect. It had tons of mistakes but people found it useful. So this video made me realize that my product didn't need to be either as long as it helped people achieve something. With all those fears out of the way, I used the wordpress and marketing skills to create a few products and to my pleasant surprise they sold like hot cakes giving me yet another source of income in addition to my affiliate income.
Ah Ha!
At this point that's exactly what you should be saying or thinking. There should be a light bulb going off in your head. Hopefully you're starting to think outside the box. Now I'll admit WA does sort of allude to these other ways via the videos and some other members content but I felt I needed to remind folks since its not actually built into the training. And I understand some of the reasons why the guys may not do it formally. But again I just felt it was important to mention.
Because all too often I see people give up or get frustrated that they aren't seeing results from affiliate marketing yet. And I'm always the one that preaches you need to push forward until you do see results. I still believe that and would never recommend against that logic. But that doesn't mean you can't apply what you learn to make money other ways in addition to affiliate marketing.
Although I make most of my money from affiliate marketing I have multiple streams of income that are based on my internet marketing skill set. And I'm a big believer in this philosophy because it protects you from the risk of having all your eggs in one basket. If you've lost your job at one point you know how much it sucks to have all your income wiped out. So don't repeat that mistake my friends.
Take what you're learning here and multiply it into various sources of income. But that's only after you master one source of income or get that going. Don't spread yourself too thin otherwise you'll never make any money.
Well I hope this gave all of you something to think about. Let me know if any of this resonated with you and give you a different insight. And I'd love to hear from people that are applying this as well.
Enjoy folks.

I wish you were close enough for a Hug!
Once again Eddy, excellent!
... Hahaha - your faithful follower.
Eddy, I would give this 50 likes if I could. Great insight.
I'm a software developer, and I was about to start designing website templates to launch a business, before I discovered affiliate marketing. If I had not started affiliate marketing, then I would not have realized that WordPress was the perfect platform I needed to launch my business the whole time. It really has a stable framework, and it saves me so much development time. Plus there is whole community of developers to contribute to software updates and security patches, so that takes a great load off of me.
And from the lessons here at WA, members like you, and additional research, I've learned quite a bit about SEO. And because of what I've learned, I decided to pursue affiliate marketing and build a stable stream of income from it before launching my website building services. And I have a few additional ideas as well.
Thanks for sharing Eddy. You gave us some precious gems in this article, and some much needed encouragement to keep on trucking until we reach the gold.
Dude if I were a software developer, I'd be building wordpress templates and plugins that address a lot of the marketing needs we all have. Ironically i was talking to a buddy who has recently switched careers and is going into IT. Initially he was overwhelmed with the possibilities and direction. Then I had him work on a project with me to build a site for my landscaper who I was bartering my services for (another way to use what you learn here folks. but i digress.). Initially he wanted to code everything from scratch. I introduced him to wordpress and themes and his whole mindset changed. He embraced the platform and now he wants to specialize in php and front end coding. We even talked about building themes and plugins.
So I think the path you're taking make sense. Because you'll have the unique view of being a marketer and software developer. And my friend that's a deadly combination that can make you a lot of money. So I applaud you! Run with it Antonio!
Great post Eddy and so true, WA is so much more than simply affiliate marketing.
I went down the bootcamp route but rather than building a scam site or a teach people how to make money online, I decided to target small business owners of all shapes and sizes who are interested in building (or growing) a website to expand their reach online and sell their own products or services.
i know many would rather outsource but there's still a huge market for people who want to do it themselves either to maintain control or because they are on a tight marketing budget.
I was a bit weary of doing this in the beginning as WA is obviously geared towards making money as an affiliate, but I've never seen higher quality training aimed at beginners in the online marketing arena.
As long as the business owners I refer can see how they can replace affiliate offers with their own products and services, they will have everything they need here to grow their existing business.
Just another way WA is so much more than simply learning how to make money as an affiliate.
See Lee,
Thats exactly the type of creative thinking I'm talking about. You are right there are a lot of small business owners that want to empower themselves. And as long as you make that the distinction that everything that is applied to affiliate marketing can be used for their own products or service, it will resonate. It's a great audience to target especially if you're willing to talk to small businesses. Well played sir. lol
Hi Eddy came across this yesterday .Just didn't realise how much we are learning here .You are right in saying that we are developing more knowledge than the average business owner . There is the real possibilty to cross over and develop IT solutions on a localised basis there by adding an other string to our bows . Thank you for sharing this .
Alexander
Exactly Alexander! There are so many ways to apply what we learn here to make more money outside of just affiliate marketing. I say maximize on all of it.
Ya, I agree with you, in other words, we need to give our time and learn hard to make WA working..
Great post Eddy! Totally agree with you and though WA training is excellent I believe it should be improved and I hope it will. Especially as I can see many members are struggling for not being able to convert a visitor into a buyer. I think this should be included in the main training which includes a few strategies, especially email marketing.
Rufat,
I think for the focus which is affiliate marketing WA is definitely the best. And that is what their focus is. So I'm not knocking it. What you learn here can help you can convert visitors into buyers. I know because what they've taught me has helped me do that thousands of times and continues to. I think no matter what you're always going to have some members that won't apply what they learn here or anywhere properly or consistently. So I don't really blame WA for that.
That said I would like to see other strategies built out into full blown courses as they have done for affiliate marketing. But again it may not be the business model that Kyle and Carson want to get into. The one thing I've learned about creating your own products/courses is that most of the time it's better to focus on teaching one thing per course/product rather than trying to be everything to everyone. Other wise you spread yourself too thin and come up with a crappy product. And i think that's the philosophy here. But with that said, it doesn't mean folks can't think for themselves and try some of the things I mentioned above. The foundation that WA provides gives you most of what you need. I'm just giving people ways to think outside the box and apply what WA teaches here in different ways to make more money.
A definite eye opener this one eddy. It's funny how we can miss opportunities that are pretty much right in front of our eyes.
Will be absorbing this.
Agreed. I smacked myself when some of these options were revealed to me. It was like Duh!!!!!

Many thanks Eddy with a y! You are a very wise man! I will remember these ideas, they are so informative! Just getting started in Bootcamp, building first site using Wordpress. I have built others with other avenues. Yes, could do this for others, and I will! Best of Luck!
Linda
You're welcome Linda. Glad this appealed to you and give you some ideas.
