How to use the Power of Words - These two words changed my life recently

The road to self-discovery is full of lessons. The Power of the subconscious mind is just amazing and it makes me wish I would have studied psychology in college.

There is no sense in dwelling in the past and so you have to play the best hand with the card you got.

I recently learned and experienced how the mind can be easily influenced by your choice of words. The words you choose in your everyday coffee break conversation influence your attitude and motivation.

Think about this for a minute.

The Negative Nacy - We all know one at work or in the family. Life seems to always punch then in the face and they are always pissed or upset at the world. Hearing them talk bring the morale down in the entire environment.

Compare that to the the Over-achiever. The label may have a negative connotation to some but pay attention to their attitude and choice of words. They always seem hungry to stand out and be significant.

Now, let's put this into practice.

When you think of the word courage. What do you picture? Warrior? Gladiator? What is their posture like?

My alter ego to shift my self-doubt is the Cahriman of the Board. To me when I think of a Ch. Of the Board I think of status, prestige, and respect. So, when I am lacking motivation, feel tired or catch myself falling into a negative state I think of the chairman of the board.

And, my posture changes. I stand up straight, I use appropriate language, and I focus on results. These three aspects make what Strategic Interventionists call the triad. Change one and you can shift your state of mind.

Just the other day I was feeling worn out because I had been running on four hours of sleep from working late on my blog and I still had a long list of to-do's. I caught myself in this state and immediately knew I had to interrupt my pattern.

The first thing I did was put a smile on my face even if it was forced. I converted myself into the Ch. Of the Board and I thought back of some moments of victory. And, when I carried a conversation with someone I made sure I used positive words and humor.

Like magic, I felt invigorated. I felt like I had gotten my second wind.

To change you state of mind you must change your emotions and the easiest way to change your emotions is through your choice of words.

The next time you feel down and lacking motivation or if you think you will say something negative in a conversation change one of your words to something fun.

I have been working on a presentation speech for an upcoming event and have been overthinking how to engage the audience.

So, what I did is I changed a negative word, Fear to the Willie's. Farther down the presentation I will use heebie-jeebies. Tell me that when you read those last two words it didn't make you giggle slightly inside.

That my friend is how your choice of words will interrupt those negative patterns and help you begin a shift towards productivity.
