Use the WA Writing Goals

Hi everybody here at WA.

I have been here for a couple of months now. For some reason I have seen people writing about goal setting but never really knew what they meant.

I have just learned about the writing goals here on the WA platform and they are great because it is very easy to get distracted by the social side of WA and neglect writing content for your website.

They can be found under the Websites tab > Site Content > View Statistics.

There are two options available:

1. Word count goal

2. Publish article goal

I have set myself a taget of 10,000 words by the end of the week and 10 articles by the end of the week.

I think this is a lot to do but have already noticed that I am more focused on my content and have written more words in a day than previosly.

Does anybody know more about how they calculate the word count?

Do they just count the words I create in site content?

If you have any comments, questions or answers to my questions, then please leave them below and I will get back to you.

If you liked the post, please give me a thumbs up below.

All the best and have a productive day!

Love this post!!
I vividly remember the day I met the Writing Stats section in WA. WOW!! I love it. It helps me every day to remember that as much I love the social life here within WA, I need to write.
Great Content = Rank
Rank = Traffic
Traffic = Revenue
So, I'm off to set more goals for the month.
Have an awesome day !!
Wendi

HI Wendi, I am really pleased that you enjoyed my post and also find the goal setting tool helpful.
The things you say make a lot of sense!
Good luck and have a great day too!

I haven’t set writing goals, but I have them in my head, and basically the way I work is by doing what I can do at the moment, and putting in time when I can.

One thing I did do, however, was come up with a list of posts to write. So far I have 42 unpublished posts, most just with a title so I know what to write about, and some with actual outlines, as well. Then, I also have a couple that are written, but still rough drafts that need refining and videos, pics, and links added.

I am doing a very similar thing to that too. Keyword in title, intro, subtitles, conclusion. Makes getting started each day really easy. Thanks for sharing this. I hope more people pick that up because it really helps. All the best here, sounds like you will be very successful.

The replies from the community are excellent responses to your question, I couldn't add anything further other than keep writing that is the lesson I learned from training and peers who have done very well at WA

Yes they have left some great comment. Thank you for reading and all the best.

10 articles in a week is a great goal. The most frequent recommendation we keep seeing is three or more each week. Good luck.

Thank you. Really want to get my site up and running asap. Thank you for reading!

Funny you should post this, I did that, just this morning.

And WOW, your goals make mine look puny! LOL Thanks for sharing.

And, the very best to reaching our goals,
Laura

Oh no, please don't feel like that!!
I have all day to put into this every day so it is easier for me.
We can all only do what we have the time for.
I am confident that you are doing a fantastic job and that you will succeed.
All the best to you!

Time for another piece of content, time to get my blogging hat on.

Glad to hear it Kenny!

Hey Catherine,

I had a plug-in on WordPress that displays my total word count because I didn’t start blogging using the WA content platform until after I’ve written 60 blog posts on WordPress.

Good luck on your goal! I believe in you. (;

Cheers,
Eric

This sounds helpful. Thank you for this advice. Al the best to you too!

I'm fairly new to this platform as well. I'm looking for ways to incorporate others into my goals. (Like teams, or friendly competitions).

@ecocatherine, have you noticed that reaching for high goals may add strain to creating rich, valuable content?

Yes i have considered that. I was thinking about it this only this morning. I am actually going to take a break from writing today and complete the final level of the training which focuses exactly on that.
I will then revisit my previous 20 posts, update and get back to the content writing.
I wish you the very best here. Thank you for reading.

I always look at my words written to date under website/content and see how I compare to other WA members.

Thats a great idea. i didn't know that other members words are posted too. Think I will have to take a look at this too. Thank you.

You're welcome!
