5 Try Hard Phrases to avoid using in your blog
Even if your not the greatest creative writer in the world
I find using a few famous quotes and cliches here and there can help you build some good rapport with your readers, but be careful or could it also be annoying to your readers.
At W.A we are encouraged to write naturally and in a conversational tone, like were having a casual chat. This might seem obvious to some, but people are still drawn to famous quotes & cliches, because they are a universal truth we all share.
The problem is many are overused and cheesy.
5 Try hard phrases to avoid in your blogg
- Crush it - The top phrase many marketers use to win confidence but has lost its edge
- Its a thing - Instagram girls started this but it's gone cold
- Think outside the box - Motivational words that are way out dated
- Next Level - Sounds like a You tuber raving about his gamer chair
- Game changer - Classic phrase used to Over Hype things
I'm not saying don't ever use them because people are still hugely influenced by whats popular in the culture which usually transfers to the online world. Some niches can get away with more artistic liberties than other but familiarity can breed contempt , so I would use the common ones judiciously.
Getting Creative with Quotes
Everyone loves a good quote in the Blogaverse, and if used creatively can be effective in keeping your readers interested in what you have to say.
I like to give it my own twist.
For instance if I'm trying to introduce a topic or conclude a product review, I might say in either the positive or negative:
Positive: " This music feels like its massaging my ears with a velvet glove "
" This album is responsible for the invention of birth control "
OR
Negative " This album made my ears jump off my head ,run for the door & then run in front of a bus ". O.k that's a bit dramatic but you get my meaning.
If you were writing a blog about " Regular beer vs that home brewed beer ", you could put a twist on an old cliche as well, such as, " Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder ". or " Home brewing is like playing god with hops ".
" Your writing is the instruction manual for assembling ideas in your reader’s mind.”
" It only takes one amazing post to push your blog past the tipping point.”
"Do what you love and love what you do ! "
