How Do You Get Back on Track After Losing Momentum?
Hi everyone,
Losing momentum is something that happens to all of us at some point in our niche journey. Life gets busy, new ideas come up, or we get pulled in different directions. But what matters most is how we return to the work that really matters to us.
In the past, I lost momentum when I got sidetracked by other projects. What helped me get back on track was remembering why I started in the first place, and realizing that even small steps in the right direction mattered.
How about you?
What helps you get back on track after losing momentum?
Do you have a way of resetting your focus when things drift off course?
Thanks for reading,
Dan

I just stop and take a break, while also acknowledging whatever happens, happens. That way I'm not placing too much of a big deal on whatever my goal or project is, takes a lot of the stress away and helps you stay focused.
Also I get back into things incrementally and hit the gym.
Hi Vitaly, thank you fore your comment. Indeed, taking a break can help a lot, especially if we have to refocus.
Hi Dan,
I have to do lots of different things, so I can get sidetracked easily. To stay on course, I keep a calendar diligently and track what I have to do and what I want to do. If I stop tracking, I just drift off course.
I also think about what I want to do and define it precisely in my calendar.
That may sound obvious, but it isn't. What you want to do can be very different from what you actually have to do day to day: maybe you've got a job that pays the bills, or you are a caregiver for children or an elderly relative.
My advice is to write it down. Get a calendar or a notebook and keep track of things. Read your goals often.
Don't give up just because you missed a day or a week, or a month. Or a year.
Hi Marsha, thank you for your comment. I like your advice, and I do write things down, my goals included. I like having lists of things to do, even if sometimes for different reasons I do not manage to complete all tasks in a day. Then I simply move them to the next available day when I can complete them.
Ah, this makes me think for a while, Dan. Different things helped me get back at different points. I didn't leave the WA, but I was not having access to it when I was not able to pay for my membership. But I was always nearby until it came a time to make it possible.
We can plan, act, but things can happen still, and that can take us a way from what we love. As you said, it's all about why we do what we do that keeps us coming back to it. I love writing. That's what kept me and still keeps me here as long as this platform works.
Hi John, thank you for your comment. That is a great example of resilience and commitment. I am glad you went through it and kept going with your project.
You're most welcome. Yes, we can plan, act, but things can still happen, anyhow. Let's keep learning and working on our lives and businesses. To our success.

I've gotten off track in the last couple of months for a variety of reasons and I'm in the place you're referring to right now-trying to get back on track.
I've found that the worst thing I can do is to beat myself up and then try to rush back into things.
Having said that, it's not a good idea to procrastinate. So, I acknowledge that I'm not where I want to be and allow myself to slowly get back in the game as it were.
The bottom line is, this isn't a race. Life is more than staying on track. We need to do what we need to do, we need to relax and we need to enjoy life. Balance is the key. Getting off track and back on it is part of the balancing act. I'm learning to just go with it and enjoy the ride.
Bob
Thanks, Bob. You summarized it well. Life isn't linear; it's more of a circular, just like the universe and the planets could tell. Be back soon!
I'm past the difficulties now. I'm slowly getting back into it. Thanks for your comments.
Bob
Good to know you are passed over the difficulties and that you are slowly getting back to work. Welcome back!
Thanks, John. All the best to you.
Hi Bob, thank you for the comment. That is very well said. I agree we do need to relax and enjoy life, balance is indeed very important. We can't accomplish much if we rush things, all needs to be done at its own pace.
Yep.
