I came to Wealthy Affiliate with about 7 or so years of trying to learn what is offered here bit by bit instead of step by step. What a difference step by step makes. I purposely made a decision to leave what I had previously learned at the door before I started going through the Affiliate Bootcamp.
As my journey has progressed I realized I had more to learn. I took 1 month off to learn more about persuasive writing. I also spent a bit of time looking at other member's sites promoting WA. I mainly focused on structure and I did spend a bit of time looking at their content.
It is amazing to me how each of us brings such a variety ways of doing things to the table. I found it very inspirational.
One member focuses on his wa name, labman, and if you look at his site, Online Lab Guy, it is all focused around "labs" to learn about things like wordpress, online marketing, video, etc.
Anther member I admire here, has a "one more cup of coffee" theme to promote his affiliate programs.
I had already decided to build my theme around "fitting the pieces together" of a puzzle. I spent years learning much of this information in pieces. Once piece here, another one there, one which was a total waste of time (well maybe more than one).
Once I got back to actually working on my website, I decided I really did not like the layout. The theme was right, I had, however, disconnected many of the bells and whistles. I re-installed my theme, so it had the sample data in it again. I then proceeded to re-do my pages/posts/categories to get them to show how I wanted.
Now I am happy with it and ready to focus back on writing content. I have been exposed to a really cool tool, Evernote, I am using and learning at the same time. I have been using XMind (a mind mapping tool) which I like too, but they really are night and day difference in what they offer.
I also spent pretty much an entire day in chat, a marathon I called it. What a wealth of information comes from chat. I jotted down no less than 5 and probably closer to 10 notes/urls/etc. I think the best one was the one to find out what theme and plugins a wordpress website uses. Now I don't have to ask fellow WA members when I am helping them. I can look it up myself. What a time saver. I only hope I was able to give as much as I received.
Bottom line, I am still working through the training, still learning new things every day, still happy with the decision I made to go premium, and I think I am the most excited about being a part of the WA community.

Yes Susie, I love that "what wordpress theme" site. In fact I liked one of your themes and found it what it was through it!
Love the learning and interacting, like you, I take notes! :)
Thanks for sharing, it's interesting to me to know how each one of WA members find their own way to build their online business.
What amazes me is there are a lot of us who are pretty much competitors and yet everyone is willing to help each other out.
There is so much to learn and just as you think you have gotten it there is something new, I am rethinking my two sites and going to give them a bit of an overhaul to.. wish you every success with the goals you want to achieve
I too am still as excited today as when I first joined WA and am really enjoying the work involved.
One of the things that still amzes me is how helpful our community is. I am sure I have learnt more outside of the training from other members than Kyle teaches in the training. Long may that continue!

WA is definitely a unique community. There is SO much to learn and when you think you've learned a lot, you realize you're at the tip of the iceburg. At least we won't get bored.
I have not been bored since I have gotten to WA
